Kinda off topic but y does the healer forums consist of soooooooooooo much whm vs sch and a ton of trolling stuff.
I mean like the other classes don't act so heated towards each other in a personal point of view.
Most drgns and mnks etc fight over damage output while we fight about things not related to this game lol and be all like ok there kid keep thinking that. Also how much popcorn do healers buy? Seriously every wtf healer topic has a popcorn thing going on.

I don't know, I'd support this just to see Selene beating up Bahamut. Maybe to compensate, WHMs can get a scholarly healing carbuncle? That way WHMs can just handle all the healing and mitigation and SCHs can DPS full time.

I think this thread in particular is full of people who are joking, and people taking the jokes too seriously... but overall I take your point. Honestly I'm not sure. I'd see it a little more as like WAR vs PLD, but even that doesn't get as heated as this whole WHM vs SCH thing.

I suspect part of it might be the mindset of players that identify with each job. For example... SCH has many different capabilities and 'enough' healing to get through a lot of content, but it can also DPS pretty well, so it's very appealing to a minmaxer mindset.

WHM is a very powerful healer (both single target AND raid healing), but even with optimal rotation* its DPS is considerably less than SCH's and, well... it's basically just a healer. Or much closer to a plain healer than SCH. In line with WAR vs PLD, my suspicion is that a lot of people see jobs with less flexibility/utility (i.e. more specialized), even if they are very good at what they do, as inferior.

*lol, I know I know. But some DPSing WHMs don't bother with one or both Aeros and only use Stone II

To be honest, White Mage DoTs suck in comparison to their filler (unlike Scholars, where their filler sucks compared to their DoTs). Unless they're going through their full duration, it's better to just keep spamming Stone II for maximum tryhard (Stone II is 170 potency, Aero II needs 9 seconds to reach 170 potency, Aero needs 15 seconds to reach 175 potency).

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if some White Mages just suck, rather than their DoTs sucking.

Nonetheless, rotating in DoTs does boost WHM's rather low single target DPS. Not that much, as you point out, but it's a noticeable difference. Not to mention their use when you need to drop out of cleric for a few seconds, keeps the numbers from dropping too drastically.

That they will be able to stance between main healing and barrier/support healing will give them a great deal of flexibility that will doubtless be very attractive, but we don't know how DPS will figure into it yet.

I am expecting these threads to include AST once we have it, though XD
