So we actually seen most of the world that was in XI's active storyline -- The only exception is the Mithran homeland and far east which is a warzone, the rest of the stuff (Western lands, Orc/Gigas homeland) were lore stuff dating before XI's release and Tribune material. So if XI's example is to be followed, we'll see quite a bit of of these lands, XIV is still only in it's vanilla stage, we've yet to get even our first expansion which could open the world a lot for all anyone can guess.

The main reason we didn't get to see certain things in XI is because 10 years later, it's likely not profitable to create more full expansion packs.
Okay, my apologies. I just meant in the grand scheme of things, there are more continents/regions mentioned in FFXI than we were able to actually go to (as you mentioned, Orc/Gigas homeland, Western & Southern Continents, Tsahya), but given their hostile nature, it seems unlikely that we would've been able to go to most of them anyway.

Obviously there will be more areas to explore in future expansions...all I'm saying is that I wish to explore as much of Hydaelyn as possible, so I hope they actually enable us to travel to these places that keep popping up in the lore.

well yoship already said he wants to add an underwater area so I dont think its to far fetched to think he wants to also add an underground area.

There's a pretty substantial amount of countries/continents we didn't get to visit, that have been mentioned pretty frequently in the past. Wings of the goddess in particular peppers a fair few conversations with information about the continents to the south and west. So yes, unlike FFXI because despite them saying in interviews that they hoped to visit these places, the funding was pretty obviously pulled and we ended up with 'expansions' post-ToAU that didn't really add much in terms of brand new content.

I think Chrees is right in saying that.

Underneath Copperbell mines, there is a blocked off path that leads to an area with a similar name. Also mining quest hints that the ruins are east of uldah in a region that looks more like altepa, dunes etc.

Some sites are reporting it says "Sil'dik Aqueducts," but looking at the Eorzean alphabet, I see "Sil'dih." It could always be a typo of some sort, either on the map or in the NPC text.

EDIT: Looks like it's option 3: the OP spelled it wrong, haha. Just looked up a transcript of the rank 36 miner quest, and it is indeed "Sil'dih." Whoops!

It feels like those maps are hinting at a lot of future content capacity.

Just north of Halitali there is a tunnel with an NCP barring the way and another south of Broken Water, makes me think these would be the way down to Sil'dih!!

I'm doing the Miner's Guild induction quest right now and have the text on my screen. In case anyone wants to read it:

    Nenekko:
I see. Sil'dih must have been a truly vast city at its peak, just as the histories say.

Oh dear, forgive me for not explaining. I assumed you knew.

Sil'dih was an ancient city, located very near to Ul'dah. At one time, it prospered much as Ul'dah does now, but they lost a great war and the civilization crumbled.

To this day, none know precisely what kind of city it was.

But to gaze upon the sheer scale of the ruins, one can only imagine that it must have been as great and lively a city as our own.
