STR Gathering

I have noticed that when attempting to gather items, that on some nodes it says that the required STR is ***, now how do you raise your STR?

Meld some str materias on your gears

In most cases, just leveling up will give you all the strength you need. Certain races, though, may still wind up short a point or two of STR on certain level 50 nodes - in those cases, you're going to need to meld a few STR materia, as Refna noted.

If you're a serious gatherer, you'll already be using heavily melded equipment, and so will need to meld your STR materia into the fourth or fifth slot of one of your pieces of gear. That's likely going to take a lot of materia before you get a successful meld, but fortunately low level STR materia tends to be pretty cheap!
