I'm highly suspicious of the Marauder, and I think he did it.

    I suspect the following:

Victim was attacked with controlled ferocity and extreme anger.
The Marauders are known to become frenzied.

Fine, clear, blue dust found on the body of the victim.
Probably from the weapon, an L'Cie Bardiche (see reference image).
It can be wielded by Marauders as low a level as 13.

Area near wounds found to be slightly frozen.
Again, the L'Cie Bardiche fits perfectly.

Multiple slashes by a sharp object on the back of the victim.
In a wild Berzerk fashion, the Marauder has mercilessly attacked the victim as she was trying to flee.
Ninjas often use two weapons when they do battle. So, for this reason; "slashes by a sharp object".

Body was slightly burned due to fire magic. Inflicted post-mortem.

The Ninja tried to save the victim.

Healing magic was detected nearby. Unknown target.
    And so did the Conjurer.

    How:

While struck with Berzerk, the Marauder has Maimed, and Heavy Swing'd the victim, and as the victim tries to flee, the Marauder has then mercilessly slashed the victim's back, repeatedly.

    - Verdict:

    Murderer: Ardin Sarbonny, Marauder.

    Reason: Uncontrolled rage.

    Motive: None.

    Weapon: L'Cie Bardiche.

    Edit:

no-one's recollection of events recall the marauder on the scene, only the black mage casting ice spells on sprites (nearby ice magic, but not near the victim corroborates this) the ninja calling for help and using katon to try and warm the body (causing post mortem burns), and the conjurer whom in her fear cast protect (first blue glow) hid in the bushes and was called upon for aid by the ninja, whom she recalls his silvery weapon (yoshimitsu atma or heartstealers) and tried to cast healing magic (second blue glow).

The callous paladin only recalls three figures, as his head was in a grimoire at the time (suspicious, what use would a paladin have for a grimoire?).

I posit that there are infact two murderers. The marauder utilising either a L'cie bardiche (made of enchanted ice, which may have left wounds with a frozen effect) or True ice or Diamond axe (made of ice from shiva, giving a similar effect to the l'cie bardiche. The blue powder upon the ground could have been left from the diamond axe, as it emits the icey sparkles of shiva's magic when drawn.)
The accomplice is the paladin, whom required a sacrifice in researching his grimoire, in order to unlock it's dark powers, and enlisted the aid of the marauder to slay the poor lass.

The weaponskill used is most likely the one used here: https://youtu.be/q2RghB8r4tA?t=48s.
As you can see, the axe makes a diagonal cut, an uppercut and then a downward vertical strike following the second blow's axis. leaving only two visible wounds for his three strikes.

Warriors and marauders both use their rage to fuel their axe, for rage gives great strength necessary for cleaving boulders in two.

The problem with it being that attack is the cut was horizontal, not vertical.

I have to interfere here. Please do not be mistaken, there can only one murderer. There can be an accomplice since the rules allow it - but an accomplice is not the person who landed the killing blow. But, I can't say anything further on the matter, else I risk spoiling anything.

Its a trick, the victim was a DRG and killed themselves.

The victim and the witnesses were in a SB and XP party at Urth's farming the sprites.
The DRG/victim kept pulling sprites themselves and not letting the tanks take them and got quickly killed because of low magic def. Annoyed at the DRG, the party kicked them and then made up a story about just just finding the victim dead to avoid potential trash talk in /shout.

The wounds found on the body were either caused during the farming or post mortem as the party stood over the body and spammed stuff for lolz.

So in the end, the victim themselves was the murderer and the witnesses are liable of negligence as well as potentially obstructing justice by lying.

    Final conclusion, loldrg.

Hrm, some pointers, the CNJ actually HEARD the MRD, the MRD did mention a girl in the bushes when he was with the victim and yelled at her, the CNJ however confused it by a scream of rage and ran away (believing she was going to be eaten), casting protect for herself in the act, which is the second glow that the BLM mentions.

My suspicions still fly to the PLD, the MRD did yell at the CNJ, yet the PLD didn't notice him? the NIN was also screaming for help so how come he did notice the NIN's plea but not the MRD rage yell? Wouldn't that be because they were too focused on running away from the spot?

Controlled ferocity, this can easily mean the person is acostumed to dealing with agro in a calm fashion, extreme anger, might refer that the person felt some sort of intense emotion against the victim, they might had a grudge on them or they were in possession of something they wanted.

MRD are often labeled by their zerking habits but the victim didnt present a single cut, but multiple, and the iconic were an horizontal and a diagonal cut in a cross fashion, definitely not one of the MRD moves.

    NIN combo could be:
Spinning Edge, 3 cuts, 1 horizontal, 2 diagonals in a X fashion, red glow
Gust Slash, 4 cuts, 2 horizontal, 2 diagonal, crossed fashion between the pairs, blue glow
    Dancing Edge, multiple cuts.

But if there is something that saves the NIN however, is the fact that the CNJ said their weapon had a silvery glow, aka metalic weapon, both Diamond Daggers and True Ice Daggers are non-metalic, and NIN doesn't have any other Ice Enchanted weapon that I know of.

PLD on the other hand could have used:
Fast Blade, 3 diagonal cuts, with a main diagonal hit.
Savage Blade, 1 horizontal cut, this has a blue glow.
Rage of Halone, multiple hits with an explosive blue glow at the end.

If you look at the names of the weaponskills, they are very fitting for the "Controlled ferocity and extreme anger" does it not?
The mention of that book is really suspicious...

The Black mage did it. Could've attacked with Scathe then switched from Umbral to Astral which could explained the slight fire burns inflicted post mortem. Weapon could be Shiva's True Ice rod.

Bump! About 3~4 more days to go! I may decide to end it a little earlier or a little later than anticipated due to time constraints.
