I don't think I asked whether the bonus was relevant to or needed by you. I asked what you thought the purpose of the bonus was, if not to be patient/understanding/helpful to a first-timer in a given dungeon. I feel like you keep dodging this question.

Regardless, I'm sure at one point the bonus was something you looked forward to receiving. That you seem to be suggesting that courtesy towards new people should go out the window the moment their bonus is no longer needed is disappointing. I don't need the bonus or even more commendations at this point, but I still find it more appealing to be nice to other gamers I play with.

I wasn't at this particular event outlined in the original post and don't know exactly what went down, but that's not really what I'm commenting on. My statements are more aimed at a disappointing attitude that seems to (unfortunately) rear its head too often in this community.

Not just this community, mmos in general. The purpose of the bonus sure, that's to support revisiting the content to help folks new catch up. Not sure I'd go so far as to say its for us to slow down. I get the point your making but it's a pipe dream in games like this. Paths of least resistance will always be the dominant method.

still its sad that it is that way i dont mind letting newbies watch the cutscenes or explain boss mechanics (but well i also belong to the minority of player who say hi and goodbye in every run no matter how short) i do get that some ppls are just fed up with all the rng in relic quest drops ponys or cards i get that but thats no reason to be mean to newbies.

the idea to farm dungeons for the zodiac weapons didn't really help this either. After farming certain instances over 30 times people tend to not be as friendly to people who don't know the instance, it was just a terrible idea to add this to an already semi toxic community

The community is only toxic because we're human. There are easy ways to make things better. Don't attache cut scenes to runs, put them outside. Don't force folks to rng grind things to the point they hate being there. these are things se should adress. The rest is just humans being human.

The Cutscene debate is as old as the game itself, started with Castrum Meridianum speed runs. Sadly there is no right or wrong the new player has a right to watch the CS, but if the overall group does not want to wait then they have a right to move on. lets put this into real life terms 8 people vote 1 or 2 say no lets wait and rest say lets go, the 6 other people are at most only going to wait for short time. Yes its a game but MMO's are much more complex so yes to many their time is precious.

Remember that saying Time is Money

I'm kinda surprised I haven't hit any issues regarding CS watching while doing my LP alt. I really should stop warning people that I'm recording.

As for my main, I tend to do randoms on tank, and I wait patiently as it says that someone watches the cutscene.. Does anyone else in the group *really* want to pull the first set? (Don't answer that, I have a recording of someone doing that.)

Patience is a virtue, but sadly FFXIV is lacking in virtues these days. I don't think this problem will ever go away.

On the one hand you have people who have run the dungeon a billion times and are plainly sick of the sight of the thing. On the other hand you have people who are very new to the game and want to experience everything it has to offer. For my part, I think the newcomer should take priority.

    Two reasons.

Firstly, if you think it's bad now with content being constantly made redundant, imagine it in six months or more time. There are literally no new players who will be able to experience the game the way it was intended unless we let them. Cast your mind back to when it was all new for you. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want someone ruining your experience just for the sake of thirty seconds of time either. Maybe you didn't even care, but there are plenty who do.

Secondly, it gives that new player a positive outlook on the game. If you grind this game out from start to finish like one big treadmill you will HATE it. The endgame is nothing but a grind treadmill, so why ruin the entire game for someone? The more players that enjoy the game, the longer we get to enjoy updates and meaningful content. The sooner people tire of the same endless grind, the sooner they start to leave.

For my part, I'll always be patient when there are newcomers. That's not to say I'm a paragon of virtue, even I have my moments, but I recognize the value in new players and try to let them enjoy it as much as possible. The more they have fun before they settle into the dungeon-a-day of the endgame the more likely they are to stick around for the rest.

Yeah some people are impatient asshole. I've been here for 2 month only but the community is not that good as I expected, because only less than half are FF fans and other are just normal mmo fan.

Better ask SE to remove bonus and made a separate server for FF fan and normal mmoer.
And I'm not really encourage any FF fans to come here for better game community.

I think it's more like half of the people value other people more than they value a game, and half of the people value the game more than they value other people.

I'd be classified as a "normal mmoer" myself, but I'm hardly a jerk to new people.
