Herein lies the problem, though. When they incorporate weapons from the 8 and 16 bit games, only the names are important since most of them look something like this:

or this:

And that's the BEST they looked before 7.
After that, we get the visual iconic weapons, which is what people want glamours for. At this point, the name is actually secondary to the appearance.
To give an example using real life, if I call a weapon "Excalibur," or "Mjolnir," the appearance isn't important but a certain degree of power is implied by the name. The only things required are "is a sword" (Excalibur) or "is a hammer" (Mjolnir). While certain contexts and versions of the weapon in modern times can elicit the name (for example, seeing Marvel's Thor's hammer would immediately bring up "Mjolnir") in general you can slap the label on pretty much anything.
The same ISN'T true for items created and popularized during the modern era. For example if I played this noise with this picture:

You would immediately know what it is. Even if I called it something else, like a "light sword" or "beam katana," to you it's just a lightsaber with a different name.
It's because the associations have changed. Thus why people have no problem wielding a weapon called "Murderous Mogblade" if it looks like the gunblade.
