People Need to Start Respecting Healers More

I think all of the classes deserve a little more respect in the game tbh. New tanks need to be given a legitimate chance when they are new and still learning their class if they are willing to listen to suggestions, because we can use more tanks in game. Existing tanks need respect because if they know their class halfway well and are versed in end game content are a bit of a rarity, as they are the defensive foundations for our parties.

Dps that know their roles and ways they can use their skills to the benefit of the party to speed up runs, do higher party dps, and make the runs go more efficiently also need more appreciation. Also, at least call dps by their names. Not just hey BRD, TP song over here! Or, goad me, ninja >.<

Healers that do more than just watch health bars and contribute safe dps while keeping everyone on their feet are going above and beyond their roles.

I see bad attitudes from a lot of different classes, not more from one or another. If we respected each other more our community would be a more inviting place. Respect is earned though, not something that should be demanded

I'm not sure how you plan on avoiding dealing damage while tanking tho. Contrast to healing, wherein dps plays zero part. Excuse me for being blunt, but did you actually think your reply through?

Did you? If boss is already being tanked, what does a second tank do until adds spawn, if at all? Oh right, just afk because there's nothing to tank. Perfectly acceptable.

People need to start respecting people in general. Its not just healers. People are just plain mean regardless of class.

Several others already said it, but people in general just need to start respecting each other more. Maybe it's just me, but in my personal experiences, DPS get even less respect than others. Sometimes to the point where in situations where your characters get locked and unable to move, (Like Titan's Goals and Lost City first boss) no one bothers to free you... or makes very little effort to do so. I've had this happen to me as Healer and Tank too, but it seems to happen more whenever I play as a DPS. DPS tend to not get any commends too, so I can't help but always give a surprised look whenever I get all 3 commends in a 4 man dungeon run. (As a DPS mind you)

But I'm just ranting here... Again, I'll repeat, people just need to start respecting each other more. Courtesy seems to always go out the window in the later endgame stuff... >_>

People also need to stop getting hung up over commendations. The rewards for them aren't exactly great except for maybe the robe. If I get commendations, great. If not, whatever.

I commend whomever plays their job to the best of their ability. If it's a tank pulling large amounts of mobs, spacing cooldowns correctly, equipping STR gear for bosses, I will commend the tank. If the DPS are playing their class like they should (AoEing* a pack of mobs instead of single target) *= Also means using Doom Spike, not Ring of Talons, silly Dragoons. Correct BLM roation, Bard playing Foes+whatever when needed, I will commend that DPS. If a healer is DPSing and healing at the same time, they will get the commendation. I also commend new players who are actively trying to learn as much as they can, not the "I know what I'm doing" types.

I don't commend the suck up "Please commend me guys :33333", and I don't commend everybody. You gotta earn the commendation from me.

I usually give my commendation to whoever I felt influenced the speed of the dungeon in the best way. If there is a BLM doing well or a WHM using Holy, they have the best chance. Other than that it's either who I think was doing the most damage. If it's a low dps group, I usually give it to the healer for keeping me alive cause if I'm pulling single packs, I'm wearing all Str and stance dancing (same with bosses). If the healer is struggling and I haven't messed up (I use cool downs) in this scenario, I just give it to whoever (sometimes still healer).

That is as a default, someone that has a good personality will usually get it from me.
