The amount of commendations I got farming Garuda EX for a pony using Duty Finder was pretty awesome, and honestly it was mostly because there were new people in every fight and instead of being an elitist prick who yelled at the new people, I offered advice and never left after the first wipe. Because why would you expect perfect runs with vets when you use Duty Finder? If you go in expecting that, you're just setting yourself up for disappointment. If you are unwilling to help new people, don't use Duty Finder. Personally I got more satisfaction from helping people clear than I did just blazing through the fight in farm parties. Pay it forward.

Jerks who kick for pathetic reasons are one thing and aren't TOO common in my experience, but a majority of people being completely apathetic and either voting Yes to the kick or just not voting is another thing and do indeed seem to be common, as I rarely see a vote kick fail, even wrongful ones. This doesn't even exclusively apply to FFXIV in my personal experience, though for the purpose of this topic I am referring to it.

This is a tale as old as time. People are again, starting to disgust me in this game.
To Vets who wanna bumrush: STOP QUEUEING FOR PRAE IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO THINK OF THE NEWBIES.
Or hell, ANY dungeons. You're PROBABLY going to get a newbie, stop being a jerk and rushing.
We've been parroting the same stuff for years.

I got one crafting class to 50 when I joined, and then realized crafting is essentially useless, so i stopped.

in fact, the only reason i kept playing FFXIV is because the game gives you more than one viable path to everything. There are achievement-based drops (raid gear) with Sol/Poe to act as a buffer to RNG, and then there is grind-based gear (relic, crafting) where you have to do alot of other smaller tasks to get what you want.

Grinding makes people selfish and single-minded. If you're inbetween them and their routine, you're wasting their time, because the reward at the end is all they care about. Of course, this is the whole idea behind roulette, but i'd rather run literally any lv50 dungeon in the game before I run main scenario, reward be damned.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, peanuts compared to everything and whatever else that is free - so? For one, this game isn't free (nor do I want it to be, for the record). For two, I don't play any other MMO, especially free ones, so it's irrelevant to me. For three, and I'm saying this because "but that other MMO" is brought up too often in this context: who cares? Really? I mean, yes, of course, we all know, we all have been told too many times, many of us even know it from personal experience. ... So what? I don't want to play another game. I want and do play this game. But anything endgame here is content that either a) can't be done without having a solid group of friends (Coils, ex primals); or b) a throwing-yourself-against-RNG type of grind (double and triple gating, relics, crafting & gathering); or c) a farm-the-same-content-over-and-over-again type of grind (those tomes, relics, crafting and gathering).

Glamours, housing, GS - all could be nice, out-of-grind type of endgame content, to be done for the fun of it. But no, not here, because SE had to turn even these into grinds: gil, availability, requirements, RNG again... Kind of mind-boggling in a way.

And before anyone points out: yes, I know grinds are needed; yes, I know grinds are as much part of MMORPGs as RNG. But for cryin' out loud, when pretty much the only option to avoid them is to go back and level up other classes/jobs (and even then FATE/dungeon/leve farming is arguable)... I personally would think it's a sign to ease up on them.

And if that isn't, certainly this type of new adventurer abuse OP (and many others had) told about, should be.

PS: Dear forum admins, for the love of the Twelve, please disable this godsdamned character limit, because once again it didn't even let me post the first sentence of my reply without the bypass-method - which makes it perfectly meaningless in the first place.

You remind me of myself then. Unless I'm in a more talkative than usual mood, I'm usually by default very quiet. I always get very vocal about wrongful kicks though. They've happened to me a few times, each of those times at the tail end of dungeons after I've spent all my time contributing to them. I know what it feels like to be kicked wrongfully, and hate seeing it happen to others. I generally hate seeing anything wrongful done to anyone in any situation honestly and always speak up.

Being militant to defend people who have done nothing wrong is a good thing. Apathetic people who do nothing bother me even more than the people who start trouble in the first place.

I second everything here, including the character limit. That's one of the maaaany little things that SE chose to do that drives me crazy, on the list with the likes of can't use gold saucer hair token in the inn rooms when standing right next to the aesthetician, can't dye or craft in them, heavy while mounted, and more!

I keep reading your sentences in the voice of that guy who sings the opening song for Squidbillies episodes haha.

Sorry to hear that though :/. Not sure if it's comforting or sad that the behavior isn't exclusive to players from western nations.

Square Enix needs to fix Praetorium/Castrum Meridianum, that's all it comes down to.

The single biggest flaw with this game for me is that the player's enjoyment of the very climax of the initial main story is completely dependent on whether or not you have a group of 7 friends who are willing to waste their time doing these dungeons with you.

And not only do they have to be willing to wait for the cutscenes - they also have to lower their gear level so it takes even longer, or else bosses go down way too quick to be enjoyable for the newcomer.

This is absolutely absurd. It probably worked just fine when the game was new, but now that ilvls are reaching 130+ and players have played every dungeon dozens of times, something needs to be done to preserve the enjoyment for new players.

I think they should make the dungeons optionally doable with NPC party members, plain and simple.

    Cont.

And if not that, then do something like this: Sync ilvls for all players to 50, make the cutscenes mandatory unless ALL players choose "skip", then boost the rewards for completing it with a new player enormously, like a 300 soldiery and 100 poetics bonus. Not grindable since it takes time to get a new player to 50, but very attractive to do when you have the chance.
