Think Dark Knight will have any HP-sacrificing abilities, for Solo or Off-tank roles?

While we know what makes a dark knight a dark knight you guys forget this is its own FF game meaning they can do whatever they want with it as it has its own separate lore and universe so a dark knight here will be vastly different from previous games. Case and point Bards they were just singers now they can use a bow and arrow yet still retain singing. While it may be different I don't think they will disappoint but it's too early to count the Chocobos before they hatch in 3 months time we shall see.

Like I said, I feel like a good fit would be for solo play or as an Off-tank, when you're not actually tanking right at that particular moment. Or maybe a "stance" that converts Enmity to additional Damage, but all attacks that cost MP also take the same amount of HP (so it's never feasible as a pure DPS character, but might give you that little extra nudge when you need it).

Or even as simple as saying, if you run out of MP, your Darkness attacks draw from your HP, instead?

There are ways to make hp sacrificing moves work as a tank (IE: sac hp > gain shield) although it sounds like they're not going this route.

However, I would be sad if they didn't fit Souleater (hp > damage) in the DRK move set somewhere. Even if it's not available while they have their tanking aura up.

They've said that dark knight will use MP instead of HP, because them hurting their health would hurt their viability to raid tank too much.

Considering the whole "loldrg" thing before Patch 2.45, wouldn't sacrificing their HP to deal damage also severely hurt their viability as DPS too?

I think there might be some abilities that activate when the Dark Knight is below a certain HP%. It's possible, maybe. So therefor there could be an ability that lets them sacrifice HP for a certain effect, and secondarily enables the use of that ability that requires being below hp%.

Just an idea. I mean, tanks get below half hp during a fight normally, it might not be for too long but it happens. Having some kind of awesome ability to use at that moment might be kind of nifty.

I mean, it was stated that Dark Knight wouldn't be like any of the current tanks, so who's to say until we get more information or 3.0 begins.

Just give them the old THM spell Sacrifice. It eat a bit of the casters HP, turn it into heal power, and cost also MP

Not if they keep their tank-ness in DPS mode as well - i.e. have a ton of HP in DPS mode.

They could just word the dps stance buff to something like 'Sacrifice 10% of your maximum HP to increase damage by x%. Effect last while buff active'. Voila! DRK version of Sword Oath.

Although I'm guessing that's not exactly what people want...

you can't expect a class from a solo game to be identical to a mmorpg, then i'm not that shocked that the dark knight loose the capacity to use him hp for attack. actually i'm kinda happy they try to create them own dark knight. FFT had something along this line with the hellknight, then instead to be shocked, maybe wait to see them dark knight, no?

If they don't give DRK its signature move, an HP-sacrificing ability, they might as well change the name to something entirely different other than 'dark knight'. Like I said in a previous thread, they have butchered the dark knight that's known to us all, no matter how happy some people might be.

Naw its all good them making Dark knight a tank was a good fresh move why every one complaining when there are no ability's or moves announced yet shesh.
