Has anyone heard anything about desynth in the expansion?

I do not know if I missed it in all the other information that has been released or if nothing has been released yet on desynth. The biggest thing I would like to know is if there will be any relaxing on the restrictions so a person can level up more than 3 types on a single character. I still think it feels weird that I can have all the disciples of the hand at 50 on one character but only 3 desynths can be maxed per character .

I just wish that instead of a pool of 330 points that max desynth was based off of the level of the appropriate disciple of the hand. So if you had max in one you could also max desynth in that disciple.

Because crafting and gathering are getting the specialists system (where you pick a handful of crafts to be an expert in and you unlock new recipes and abilities for that class while the other crafts remain limited), I doubt that desynth would go the opposite route. But so far that I know there hasn't been any new info about it.

I expect the changes in the expansion to be:
    -soldiery gear can be desynthed
-max desynth levels raised to 120
-max desynth sum of levels raised to around 400

My small but growing collection of useless Soldiery gear needs somewhere to go! I can't even trade them in for GC seals!!!

afaik, we really don't know WHAT specializing will mean in the expac; we can only guess.

I'm in the "We've been able to do everything on one character thus far, don't stop now SE" group.

The "We've been able to do everything on one character thus far, don't stop now SE" group doesn't understand that the way crafting is now, it discourages those who only have time to focus on one DOH/DOL, because of this they don't craft because the people in the above group can easily grab hold of the market and make it impossible for those with less time to have a chance to make a profit through DOH.

A way to consider it is like this. In 1.0 it was possible to change jobs inside dungeons, because of this if you only had one job leveled you were a hindrance to the group because you didn't have the time to offer the means to be as efficient as possible. Because of this of course the ability to change jobs in DF/dungeons was removed because again you would run into a new set of issues if that could occur, tanks queuing just to get in, changing to DD and forcing others to change to a tank etc etc.

The specialization is set to make rare items rare and to force players to focus where they want to craft, encourage teamwork and not make the crafting process a one man job. It will also level the playing field and potentially offer the same type of experience as DOW/DOM classes in the essence of those with more time will be able to hit the cap earlier in the week compared to those who don't have as much time. On that same front though, those with time will of course have more time to craft items "pending materials" but their strength in doing so will be equal to those who don't have as much time and in essence it should make things more fair overall.

RIFT had a soul system that allowed you to freely change between DPS/Support/Healer/Tank, and it never ran into the 'oh you que'd as a tank and want to DPS' problem

Quite the contrary, it helped a lot. Many times their tank spec couldn't handke the fights and I asked 'do you have a DPS spec?' And they did. Switching our roles allowed us to work as a team to beat the content.

Switching in dungouns should be a thing. It's be outright awesome to do say - a speed run on my BLM for big pulls, then go DRG for boss fights.

Or go PLD for big pulls and switch to WAR for bosses.

Hell, what if my healer is having a hard time keeping people up and we don't have a blm/SMN? I can fill that spot and emergency heal as needed.

And what if they made trials an actual challenge? Being able to alter my DOS spot would help so much.

I'm expecting the opposite to occur. Max of 140 per class, 400 total. I mean, we don't know the ilevels of the new stuff yet, but I expect very soon to not be able to have even three classes maxed. They've made it pretty clear that they no longer ascribe to the "one person can do everything" philosophy. If you want to do everything, you now need to spend a ton of extra time playing FFXIV so you can level multiple alts. Crafting/Gathering/Desynth is swiftly becoming something only for players "hardcore" enough to use alts.

    In my opinion, this makes no sense. You can level them all at once and share gear sets (BiS right now is across all classes). If you have time for crafting at all, you have time for them all. Faster in fact since you can make everything you need yourself. And with your retainers able to get mats for you, it's a cakewalk. ^^;

But I've leveled each role, I can go to any dungeon with any party. I'm not stuck in one role. :/

I'm sorry, but I don't want to be FORCED to work with others. I don't have the time to wait around for them. :/ I'd rather work together with others because I WANT to.

    3. You have to choose which DoH class can learn special recipes (2 stars and more)
Oh snap! I hit my post limit for the day! DD: But but I'm not done talkin! TT_TT

    Anyways...

I remember reading something from SE about apprenticing to craft guild masters or something (and I'll have to do some post diving to find that >< ). I kind of read it as similar to joining different GCs. You can change after leveling, but you can only use that GC's gear (or in this case, recipes) while in that group.

But until SE throws us a bone... it's all conjecture. :/

This would not actually stop the people with more time it just would make them level crafting / desynth alts. Ultimately that is what I am wanting to know is whether or not I am going to be forced to level up alts to be able to do everything I feel like doing ^^. I much prefer to just be able to put all the time into one character especially since you can not send mail to alts.
