I find I get maybe 1 or 2 comms on my WHM (if that) on most guildheists/dungeons, my archer (before she turned to bard) came out of a guildheist with 3 comms once and I was jumping for joy lol. I always make sure to say hello and thanks for group every run, and give my comms out to the person I thought was exceptional (doesn't matter what class), or if they bothered to say hello in the first place.

I don't base my respect on people's chose method within a game, really. It all boils down to their attitude and effort.
So... no, I don't think I need to respect healers more, because I feel there is no one player or role that deserves more respect than another. We work together, and I commentate on who impresses me the most.
Hmm most of my inital 500 commis I got from playing bard. The rest is a mix and match from all the jobs I have at 50 now.
As for giving commis... I won't auto commi most. I am more likely to give commis to people that actually talk, have fun and enjoy the stuff they are doing instead of rushing. And I certainly won't give commis to players that complain at the speed the tank is comfortable pulling/healer comfortable healing and so on.

I agree with this, and i main healer. My commendations go to people with a good attitude or those who play their job really really well.I don't base my respect on people's chose method within a game, really. It all boils down to their attitude and effort.

Also, just because you are a healer it doesnt automatically mean you deserve more commendations than anyone else, or indeed good at your job. I go into DF a lot as a dps (sometimes i just need to make things explode after healing FcoB), and see some people who can not player a healer class to a high standard, these people certainly are not going to get my commendations.
Without the tanks no one would survive, without the DPS a fight would take so long, the healer would run out of mana, tank would die and no one would survive. It takes all types to make this work.
I commend the people that actually try to do more. If they give good advice, they get a comm, if they go above and beyond what one would normally expect of their role, they get a comm.
I have an easy way for myself. As I figure dps give there commendations to the tank or healer, When I run heals I give my commendations to dps, when I run dps I give it to the tank, and when I tank I give it to the healer
I have 743 comms and healed with white mage majority of my time in FFXIV. I'm also fairly quiet at times in parties and still get comms... maybe my character's cuteness gets me comms? >_>

I think with commendations, the mentality goes like this.
Was it a run that was fairly uneventful? Tank most likely to get commends.
Did someone do something extraordinary that saved the day? That person will be more likely to get commends.
As a tank, I always give my commend to the one person who i felt performed the best, and it more often than not defaults to healer. I suppose I'd argue that healers would be the second most likely to receive them. But tanks also set the pace of the entire run, they decide what to pull, how much to pull, how to handle those pulls. A bad dps can be ignored, a bad healer can be compensated for some.... but a bad tank means everything is chaos.
To be honest, I only give commends up to the point i get my weekly challenge done, and then forget to most the time beyond that.
Uhmm... just because you're a healer, doesn't mean you'll get my com. It depends on a multitude of things: if you're kind; if you're a good healer; the amount of breaks... I've also noted that the way your character looks also plays a role.
I try to give my Com to a DPS unless they make numerous erroneous decisions.
