Yay another cool thing tht will probs become an instance tht no one will bother with after the initial rush of new and shiny.
I'm looking at u odin / urths fount.
Pretty high difficulty considering its not even hardmode and its just a big DDR aoe fest tht makes healers go is this even worth healing. Drops 1 vanity piece.
I can see SE taking this route again

While having it an open world event like the end of 1.0 sounds cool in concept, it would not work in this situation because it would then be a singular one-time event which would mean that many people would not be able to partake in it for numerous reasons such as work, timezones, started playing after the expansion.

It would be very weird for a new player to go through the story and get to the point where the battle is supposed to happen and then its like "sorry that was a one-time event that happened months ago, please proceed to the next story mission, nothing to see here."

They could try to make it open world by making it a cycling fate, but I feel that would create more problems and have more limitations than just separating the content and making it an instanced trial.

It worked in 1.0 because as far as they were concerned that was it, they were ending the game and so they decided to go out with a bang. 3.0 is a continuation of the game and everything in 2.X still exists and is accessible, with a few minor changes (Mor Dhona being built up, etc.).

Even if the Battle for Ishgard is Instanced, I don't think that rules out some sort of open world event in the week or days leading up to th expansion.

8 man (possible 24 man?) trial

looks like the 2nd Boss fight of Stone Vigil HM ramped up with the Chaos of Thornmarch and the scenery of Battle on the Big Bridge.

The fight possibly containing the Temple Knights themselves (like in 2nd boss fight of Stone Virgil HM)

I fear that the wards themselves will have HP bars and should all the wards fail its an instant party wipe.

Is there any sources that state the world is going to have some cataclysmic event?


I just assumed the 2.55 story would roll us into 3.0.

We're still 3 months from the expansion. The big 2.0 ending event won't be for a bit...

There's going to be a big event re: Midgardsormr/Dravania vs Ishgard, but I don't think it'll be nearly on the scale of the Calamity. This trial is probably the extent of it, maybe you'll be able to look at Ishgard from Coerthas and see dragons attacking or something but not much else. Guess we'll see in a week, though.
