The fact it ends at the end of the japanese financial year and not a day over kind of makes it significant. Offering a free upgrade cuts into profits.

Sure, they'll mess around with fake new races and turning us all into Yoshi P on the forums, but SE won't even think of messing up the end of a promotion. That's business, you don't eff with money. xD I do think they should have chosen a better day though due to people believing it's a joke for some reason.

We'll likely see SE's april fools joke on the 1st. Doesn't really make sense to do it first. In this case, if the joke was the end of the PS4 campaign, they could've not posted anything and then, on the 1st, put a giant "WE'RE ENDING THE PS4 CAMPAIGN TODAY WITHOUT A WARNING, SOOORRY...!" banner on the lodestone.

That and, there really isn't anything funny in the announcement. There's always something funny in an April Fools. Like how ugly the Viangaa were, or how silly the idea of Favor System was.

Lol. For real though, it doesn't even seem like it would be a funny joke to begin with anyway. SE is usually a little more silly when it comes to April Fool's pranks.

1) It's not even funny
2) SE would have to collaborate with Sony for this April Fool's joke, which is highly unlikely.
3) The target audience of this, if it's an April Fool's joke, is small compared to the population of the players. (It would only affect those that have yet to upgrade to ps4 from ps3).

So, no. The date is mere coincidence.
