Each Legatus commands a Legion. Legatus Darnus commands the XIVth (lulz) Legion, so there oughta be I, II, III, IV etc. So they are two different persons. He could just change his armour and his name for the weekend, or they could be relatives, or they could have nothing to do with each other than being high ranking garleans, too many unknowns!
Heres to hoping we are able to get armour pieces like those guys in the future, such badassery..
Did not read whole thread.
Pics are wicked cool, can't wait to see them in game.
lol Gun guns!who knows maybe the garleans arnt the evil invading army that we all think they are.......................... least that would make for a much more twisted and enjoyable storyline apart from what we know now which is very cliche at the moment but still well done.
Maybe SE can add some Gun fists Gun sticks Gun whips Gun daggers Gun shields and Gun guns to the game next.... Im just joking lol least they would look awesome. BTW Gun swords etc.... existed in anime/manga long before FF series introduced them so they arnt a FF trademark; yet FF has done a good job portraying them better than most other outlets.
Maybe the Rank 46 Legatus could be Gaius (VIIth Legion), or maybe he's the Legatus from another Legion. The only thing I'm 100% sure is, this whole Legatus thing brings me back to Final Fantasy XII, which I love.
Can't wait to see how Garlemald looks!
Speculation fun time thread >>>> here <<<<<I think the most interesting thing about these events is that there aren't just two apparent sides. Sure, Garlemald is definitely the main antagonist here, but it's interesting that they try to appeal to the citizens of Eorzea to get what they want. They could easily crush everyone but instead they ask people to join them, as seen here and during one of the story quests where they are distributing propaganda linkpearls. Beyond their tricks though, are the mysteries of the primals and Urianger.
Either could be good or bad at this point. The sylphs think the primals' influence is corrupting, though they still worship them as gods, while the Empire seeks to control them and basically just thinks of them as really big elementals. As for Urianger, it's been said multiple times that some people think of him as an "archon" of the Twelve, but Garlemald and others think he's directly responsible for bringing calamity and he does summon a drake/raptor on you. The ascians are yet another faction that want nothing to do with anyone else, nor anyone else with them.
Although due to some events in the Lominsan storyline it's possible at any time that a story NPC could be an ascian in disguise, or an agent of them.
It's nice that, at least so early in the story, we don't yet know for sure who's to be trusted and who isn't. And even if that is mostly clear, at the very least their relationships to each other are more complex than just one set of good guys on our side and one set of bad guys on the Garlean side.
Gun fist, like Ballistic Fist? I would rather keep 'em Gun-something limited![]()
This is all well and awesome, but it makes me feel that the story is starting to become more than a bit disjointed by introducing so many things at low ranks when there's a lot of stuff happening in the story at higher ranks that seems disconnected.
I posted in that thread twice.Speculation fun time thread >>>> here <<<<<
How about Edinorog?Gun fist, like Ballistic Fist? I would rather keep 'em Gun-something limited
Another interesting thing is. It's said during "Into the Dark (Ul'dah)" that Nael is a tricky person, he used some decoys to fool his pursuers during the invasion of the Darkhold. When you complete the quest, the knight says that you slayed one of his decoys and retrieved his helm, but he wasn't Darnus.
Things are getting more and more interesting now, with Urianger, Garlemald and Cid... I just hope we don't have to wait too much for the next batch of main scenario quests.

That's it, I'm joining the Empire!
They've got cool armor, gun blades, and cell phones.
I helped save the Ala Mhigo and didn't even get a T-shirt.
