If shield oath gets taken off the GCD I want the same to happen to IB

Well lets pause for a minute...
Activating Defiance doesn't instantly give you an HP bonus, it just jumps your Max HP while current remains the same, but hitting Shield oath INSTANTLY gives you mitigation.
Lets not confuse similar things for the same thing.
Dear Square. Why even make the two tanks different? Clearly people don't want variety. They want everything to play the same.

The real reason Shield Oath and Sword Oath are on the GCD is because they're spells. The reason they are spells is because SE realized that they gave us an MP regeneration tool (Riot Blade), but forgot to give us ways to use MP other than Flash and Stoneskin.

Haha, after reading all the comments, I was thinking the same thing.
But for serious, why not just take the stance off manually if you need to swap hate so fast? Far easier than having to wait for GCD to expire to use Sword Oath.

And now they are making Dark Knight an MP tank... Hope they get more than Flash and Stoneskin :P
To be fair, it's possible Riot Blade was first designed with the idea that the oaths would drain mp overtime but as the development continued they decided not to put mp decay into the oaths but decided to leave Riot Blade in for Cure and stoneskin usage.

I find that I use Riot Blade far more with Flash than anything else. Now that I think about it, I actually haven't used it a whole lot lately. Maybe when I'm spiritbonding in the Core Blimey fate since all I do is gather mobs > flash spam.

To be fair both flash and stoneskin are very useful.
