id rather shield bash be left alone, it may be on GCD but no CD of its own. back when levi exp came out unless your war and melee synchronized their stuns shield bash was the only option for stunlocking the hysteria add. thats just 1 example but a decent one lol.

Maybe you did forget that we can stun adds in T5 far more than a WAR can before they build enough resistance.

PLD has an infinitely more potent oshit button that is on a 7 minute cooldown. But hopefully you don't have to use that button more than once every fight at most, so the cooldown is moot to me ^^;

In terms of the OP I think the stance situation is fine. Unless you have to immediately switch back 5 seconds later for some reason you can eat the GCD. A sword oath paladin spamming 123 can already outdps a non-defiance war swapping between two combos and fracture in the same gear anyway.

The only thing I'm not too hot about for pld is the shield swipe proc. I wouldn't mind if it was like half a second longer before going away, but that's just me.

That's why PLD gear has Skill Speed. Doesn't extend the proc, but it gives you a bunch more flexibility on your activation.

There's nothing imbalanced about paladin currently.

What's funny is no one here knows how WAR and PLD will scale to the 3.0 60 cap. So how can you call something incorrect when you haven't seen the whole picture?

The reality is that jobs have to be distinct in mechanics and SE announced 3.0 cap increase already. Which means what? THEY ALREADY have the total design of all current jobs to atleast 60 if not higher. Past 60 might just be theory at this point, but the design requires them to already have fleshed out all jobs at 60.

So... Having seen several past adjustments to WAR because it used to be broke... How could one conceive that SE just woops'd and passed over pld during that time? Really... Working as intended is implied here.

or if you're short, you could use an heavy CD and eat the blow in sword oath (or during transition, which is basically sword oath due to CD lag, BUT the next hits will be under shield)

The only issue I have with stance swapping as a PLD is that it ruins combo, making it moot in ohshit moments, or when you need to stance dance but will fall short half a GCD, wasting a Rage of Halone

To counter this, I just take Shield Oath off; it functions just like Defiance when you're turning it off. This way, I only lose 1 GCD.

You're losing 50 potency per auto attack by not switching to Sword Oath. I'm not gonna get into the math, mostly because I'm lazy, but I believe after about 3 or 4 GCDs worth of auto attacks you lose the benefit of getting that one faster GCD.

So what you suggest only works if you turn off shield > hit the boss with literally two GCDs > turn shield back on to tank whatever you need to tank. I can definitely see a few situations in coil where this would work but for any extended OT portions you'll want sword on.

pld is already telephone-with-huge-buttons easy-mode. They SHOULD have this gcd limitation for stance change.
