Cost of buying the game new in-box going up again

I thought I'd post about this and see if anybody else had wondered about it.
I bought the game toward the beginning of June, and I paid 14.99$ USD at Gamestop for it. No more than a week later, I was on the Gamestop website and saw the price drop down to $9.99 USD. I wasn't irritated, just thought it was kinda strange, since Best Buy and Wal Mart list it at $49.99 USD still.

So about 2 weeks ago or something, after 1.18 was released, my friend wanted to play, but he was short on cash so I offered to buy it for him. (I was thinking, hey, $9.99 and there's 3 Gamestop locations within 20 miles of me.. Not too shabby?!)
So when I arrived at the Gamestop I asked for the game and picked up one of 2 copies they had left in stock. Low and behold, the price had gone up to $29.99+tax, ended up costing me about $35.00 USD. I still got it, since I wanted my buddy to play, but I was somewhat pissed off that I paid twice for his copy than what I did mine, only a month later.

So apparently Gamestop is aware of the patches. Or something. Let me know what you think of this and why the price would be lowered and then raised in that short of a timeframe.

It is more of an indication of a slow year for games this year so they don't have to push items off the shelves for other games. If games were coming at us very fast then the price would go down again. There's also a scarcity factor since the game isn't getting replenished for store shelves very much [assuming].

Its actually supply and demand, A bunch of new sales have probably happened all at once and game stops capitalizing.

Eh, I wish I paid 35$ for it lol
My CE was £43, that's around $70 and it arrived 10 days after the standard release lol
About a month or two later...price went down a lot.
You can get CE for ~$35 and standard edition for ~$22 on amazon right now

It might also be that they arent getting in many more copys (it dropped like a stone so quick they probably stopped stocking them) so they raised the prices on the few they had left.

At this point most people are just waiting for the ps3 version...they must be stoked to pay 60$ XD

Pft I'll be paying 99$ for the CE FFXIV PS3

even if I don't have a PS3 I want the CE for PS3 i've waited long enough for it! XD
