Please make the in-game Au Ra (Males) more muscular, reflective of the Artwork

Personally I was really hoping for more androgynous races, either on the more masculine end or the more feminine end. Having so much gender dimorphism is way too WoW and puts a bad taste in my mouth. It goes against the things I really liked about FFXIV and bends down to this idea that men are big and powerful and cool and women are tiny and dainty and cute. It's obnoxious.

though they must remember to Lay (or sleep) with your (or the) enemy also means that you are on a mutual or friendly terms, its an old phrase that is often used to describe a situation involving a non-adversarial relationship between two individuals or entities that would normally be unfriendly or adversarial.

And yet, there's this NPC who tells the tale, he adds a comment about not understanding how that would even be possible. Or something like that. So it sounds like a literal meaning, although it could also have been the man's personal interpretation.

i think i know the NPC your on about, if its the ishgaurdian that i think it is, he may be saying it in order to make her seem more detestable by there standards, the issue with a term like Laid with your enemies is after a long time that phrase may be taken literal, using my example above of the warriors of light there may be few in the future who would think we slept with the beastmen due to the phrase :P

Yoshi-P said in an interview that the female Au Ra design was influenced by the fact that Roe and Highlander females are the least popular designs in the game and they didn't want to add a racial design people didn't want to play. One thing though that we haven't seen is how customisation can change the appearance. Certainly we won't see female Au Ra as large as the male but apparently they can have a far more 'beastal' appearance. We will see once the Benchmark comes out.

But that literally results in them making carbon copy cutesy females. The au ra literally look just like Mi'qote or midlander females. Highlander females are surprisingly popular, roe females coming in dead last for obvious reasons (though I personally love them). Making a race with a carbon copy body type of some fantasy dream girl panders to people who already have multiple races that fit that description.

However, if they really did want to keep the "delicate and conventionally attractive" look they've got, they could have easily made the male more "bishie" so to speak, since there's a painful lack of feminine/delicate male physiques in the game.

Although we have different tastes, I think we both agree on several points, namely that the game needs something on BOTH sides of the spectrum. I share the same concers, that by basing the AU Ra on " what's popular", they're just giving us more of the same.

There's no point in going halfway. Either make something between Highlanders and Roegadyn, or make something between Miqo'te and Lalafell, but there's little point in creating something similar to what we already have.

I just hope the males will not have that permanent scowl that's seen with the previews.

So far each of races offer something. We'll soon see what the Au Ra will offer.

All we know is that females were designed to be elegant and mysterious (not really seeing it tbh) while males were designed to be your typical cool/tough anime character cliche'

Exactly. I'm not against big beefy dudes and "waifu" ladies, don't get me wrong! My issue is that we already have manly men (the "exaggerated" roe's and the typical ideal male of hyur) and waifu-bait ladies (mi'qote and midlanders). We need something more niche, like the lalafell. The lalafell fit a niche, but are incredibly popular for people not making waifu's. Take another chance at fitting a niche, square, please.
