How do you feel about the FFXI News?

Haha, turning it into a single player game would be fun too, although I'm not so sure how they would do that.

They pretty much already did this almost with the companions they have now it can be you and a group of NPCs that make up your party to kill stuff.

I'm quite happy really. The game isn't going down in the foreseeable future so people can still play it if they want, and the story is getting a definite ending. After Abyssea we weren't sure if there would be any more story so this was more than we could have asked for.

The spinoff game is JP only but hopefully that changes, and the mobile client (confirmed international release) sounds interesting.

This is good news so I don't see why anyone is all that sad. The game deserves such a good treatment after 13-14 years, and it's not really going anywhere yet.

Good game and had a long run, it's sad to see it start to wind down and probably shut down in a few years - but unfortunately that will always happen, even to this game. Personally I stopped paying it once they started raising the level cap and brought out Abyssea - just wasn't as good after that, but that's just my opinion.

Huh? Abyssea wasn't the last expansion they had though...so there was actually tons more story and content in XI. Seekers of Adoulin just finished up in the last two months or so... Where you been?? XD

As for me, I'm sad to see XI go. XI was my first MMO that I ever played and I was with it for a very long time. Even XIV couldn't keep me away from it even though it was frequently a place of misery. I had to wait a long time for parties depending and then was fawned upon when I was BRD or WHM or SCH but man, that game was rewarding.

Adoulin was a surprise, we weren't expecting it after Abyssea, and it came out pretty quickly and suddenly. I just remember people thinking during Abyssea that that was going to be it for actual content, until Adoulin happened.
