I played for 4 years when the PS2 version came which later moved to PC and then came went back for couple months before XIV 2.0 came out and though had some fun with it, it just wasn't the same. I would like to check out the new final campaign stuff they going to be doing I'm not really pick to up another subscription again. Maybe if they did a dual subscription I would check out XI again. Otherwise sounds like XI is going out the door for the most part. Had good times with it.

This is awesome news! I've searched the net over trying to find ways to play ffxi on my mobile, but every method was impossible. The only consensus was that a direct port of the pc version was required.

Really looking forward to this so I can play xi anywhere I have signal. Xi had a good run, but SE is stretched in so many directions that constant upkeep of xi, xiv, and xv as well as the continuation of its flag ship ff series is a bit much. Hopefully this means more emphasis on xiv... Probably already does considering how profitable xiv is over xi in terms of total subscriptions and micro transactions.

The game itself was quite easy (with two exceptions, AV and PW).
Progression in XI was almost entirely party-based, and that's what made it more challenging. Leveling required finding a party, getting a good camp spot, defeating enemies at a speed that made the party worthwhile, and managing abilities so that they're used at the best possible times (for damage, hate management, survival etc.). Now sure, if you have a consistent group of people you can do this with, it's easy. Most players didn't have that luxury, and just getting an invite could take hours.

Made me go back to my XI Screenshot folder and cry.

I played XI for nearly 10 years since 2004, made a lot of friends and had the most amazing time. Vana'diel will always be my favorite FF world, no other will ever come close to it.
The game made you connect with other people, created a sense of community among the players and forced you to establish connections. Yes, the drama was abundant but also very high quality at times. XIV hunt drama is so weak in comparison >_>
The music, characters and story were top notch to me all through the five expansions and it felt like any other Final Fantasy title of your choice. Something I can see in the future for XIV as well with Heavensward.

I know it's probabily nostalgia talking, but I can't seem to push XI down on the list of my favorite things ever.
I have really good memories thanks to it, and that's good enough for me.

What reason is there to d/c PS2 and Xbox support at this point if they are announcing the final expansion?

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

Eh, don't really care. I had my fun on that game for several years (even met my wife on it), but it's seen it's time in the sun. If people keep playing it, great, but I'd rather just keep focusing on this game.

I wanted to play FFXI, but after getting to the valkrum dunes and spending 2 weeks waiting on party invites, I unsubbed and never went back. Didn't have a group of friends playing to group up with and never found one when I did play.

Depressing really. Can't replicate that feeling of waking up to several tells in your chat log because you fell asleep with your looking-for-party flag up in Yhoater jungle in one of three places.

Hoping the final bits take the character to that Tavnazia fortress to actually walk through the cutscene area. I may pay a month to get the last bit of coins for my first relic and log my character out by the fomors looking at it. (You know where.)
Only then I'd be content wiht letting it go. Took a couple breaks from it here and there but it's a big part of my life. Shame to see it go.
