Because Valve takes a chunk of the profits from FFXIV sales through Steam. This is why Steam players can only pay for their subscription with the Steam Wallet. If SE started allowing people with Steam accounts to buy the regular CE, Valve would be losing out on revenue.

As for being able to sell the PS3 and PS4 versions, if things were the same with Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft we wouldn't have Gamestop we'd have "Nintendo Place", "Sony Boutique", and "The Xbox Store" or something like that.

This is totally made up. Steam player have that as an option. It's not the only payment method at all.

I think Valve has nothing to do with this decision. SE have keys for retail and steam versions of the base game, and they register them separately, its their decision. Then, they have the same 2 type of keys for Heavensward and they choose to check its origin and only validate what they want.

I don't find anything that relates this to be Valve's fault.
