Relic (Zodiac) Saga 3.0+

I have heard mixed feedback in regards to the relic (Zodiac) saga and if it will be continued in 3.0+. I know they plan to introduce a new system (patch 3.1), which Yoshi had mentioned at PAX. The question I have is, what will happen to the old relic (Zodiac) weapons? Are there plans for them to be upgraded in 3.0+? Will they be used for anything in 3.0+?

It sounds to me like it's probably a whole new weapon/ system, however, in at least one interview I read that they're planning for there to be an advantage for players who completed their Zodiac weapon. What that means is anyone's guess. I'm kind of wondering if said 'advantage' will allow a player to jump to a different type of weapon or not. I have been working on my MNK's weapon thus far, but might like to switch to another job. Having put so much time into the current weapon I can't be tempted to switch my main class currently though, lol.

Whole new line and weapon.

It'd be stupid if people had to do a level 50 quest with a level 50 weapon for 6 or however many stages just to get a level 60 equivalent.

The advantage may be something like, the first step requires some base weapon, but to get a base weapon you have to grind all these dungeons for low rng drops, but have a zodiac you can use that for the base and skip to the next step.

They already said the initial relic wpn in 3.0 is going to be easy to get though. If you want the best wpn in the game for 2.0 then grind the relic, the only other lvl 135 wpn is the dreadwyrm and it prob takes even more time and effort to get that wpn than it does to get the relic. The last 2 steps of relic are stupid easy anyway, not sure y ppl are still wanting even more from the relic.

If you are concerned whether or not to do/finish the zodiac saga, then I would say just finish it, you get an i135 weapon and it will more than likely be your best weapon until Alexander weapons are revealed (which is 2 weeks after 3.0's launch).

If its about what is happening to them, well we will keep them for the most part, and if we have them there is a CHANCE it will assist us in the new "legendary weapon" quest line. (like let us skip a step or two or something along those lines).

I hope not. I'd hate to have to grind out the whole damn saga again on Machinist with next to no one doing 50 content.

Dreadwyrm weapons definitely do not take more time or effort then relic to get I already got 3 dreadwyrm but would never do another relic after my first takes way too long. The only problem is the lockout which is going away on march 31 then you can farm bahamut for as many weapons as you want.
