Does it matter that much you are marrying the persons character in the game not in real life.

Lol I already know it isnt a big deal. I just like to know things, and this caught my attention. not only i read a lot of articles of people actually finding love in MMOs, and I was thinking how was that even possible if the balance between male and female players playing their resepective gender is wrecked?
By talking to people and getting to know them over the course of a friendship or other kind of casual/platonic relationship. I've ended up dating a couple of people that I met online while gaming. One of them I'd known since college and talked ingame and on the phone for hours with (this was back when VoIP wasn't a thing and landlines were the norm). The other was in my guild and we'd known each other for about a year and gotten to know each other over normal conversations, sharing music, and doing things together ingame.Lol I already know it isnt a big deal. For some reason, people think I'm a dude no matter what race/gender I play.
"Wait... you're a girl?!" is something I hear really often. -.-

Wait, you're a girl?! Just kidding. Well, the name pretty much gives you a hint, which is not always accurate. For example, in your case, "Ashkendor" doesn't sound "girly", in my opinion but I wouldn't risk and say you're either a girl/guy based on that, since there're a several factors to be considered. As for me, I usually guess it, it's like a gut feeling. It's not like it really matters because, in the end, we're all just human beings. Of course there might be people interested on their true genders, because they either want to find their SO or whatever reason.
Personally, I've witnessed some creepy dudes stalking female characters around. I had guys in my FC who revealed themselves as male players and they pretty much got insulted by said guys. Being a girl is scary.
Getting hit on is super annoying and I would punch them until the become a pile of aether.
agree lots of creepazoids around i used to pilot my gf charcter in my old game cause she liked playin my tank in wars lol and the stuff guys used to message her was lets just say x rated im like this isnt *insert her ign* then they would go quiet lol my girls like see what we have to put up with just cause we have boobs lol
tbh I always have wondered how often this is reversed. (females playing as male char)
But...I pretty much never jump and my character is fully clothed and I'm a guy >_> lol
That awkward moment when if you get a new body piece / glamour, you change the color of everything else or find pieces that go well with it, or even change hair color/style so it works with the glamour.... and are a straight male lolFemales tend to take a lot more care with their looks, ensuring classy combinations of color and style (they may also be gay men as females, but it's more likely they actually play a guy). Guys are more like complete the set, or go for an outlandish theme like pirate or classy Ninja or sexy cosplay. Girls justvtry to look good and coordinated.
>_> I tend to get the opposite and technically, since it is the internet, it's usually safe to assume it's a guy. Even if they say they aren't, it's still safe to assume they are unless you have proof lol

Finding partners in MMOs is becoming more common now. It's exactly the same as it would be meeting someone any other way, you don't know if you actually want to pursue a relationship with someone until you know them well, at which point their character's gender is moot. Just treat everyone the same regardless, it's not like it matters. My partner's character is a catgirl, that didn't stop me becoming friends with him and then moving towards something more as we spent more time together.
About 80% of my fc is male, but the majority play female characters. People play whatever they think looks best!
(As an aside, the point about jumping around is totally true! The number of times I've been stood waiting to raid and pretty much all 7 static members are derping around jumping from place to place .... =P)
