CE Regional Differences - Let's Talk About Them

So, now that quite a few of us actually have our Collector's Edition pre-orders in, let's talk a bit about what we're actually getting in the mail come June.

The Heavensward sites were all updated today with each region's product images. I don't think it was mentioned previously, but there are some pretty glaring differences. See for yourself:

• North America
• Europe
• Japan

It appears as if the EU and (especially) NA CEs have been "downgraded" from their Japanese counterpart. Not only are there some price discrepancies, but I'm not really sure we're all getting the same product anymore.

Box art changes aside, the NA and EU boxes don't appear to function as displays for the figure and the plastic case for the "Eorzea in Motion" Blu-Ray is instead a cardboard slip cover.

Thoughts?

You guys really need to chill. I don't think that there is a significant difference except that the JP product site uses better pictures of the box. Certainly nothing worth losing your rag about.

Yeah, a friend of mine told me about this earlier. I also didn't even see any differences until he insisted. It looks like they cut corners in general (smaller box, no actual case for the dvd, etc.) to keep it "cheap". I guess folks who really go for the collectible aspect would be disappointed in this. :/

The European and NA images appear to use the same stock images of the items (albeit the EU one has an extra image showing a different side of the box), only the rating icon on the boxes reflect their region's rating system. (I also noticed you see "PS4" on the big box, while the actual expansion disc case says "PC", so again, stock images, while the Japanese images are all PS4).

Could just be to simplify the international shipping process. the EU/NA boxes both show that full color image taking up one whole side, while the JP one has the image and the FFXIV logo next to it. Wouldn't surprise me if the international box really is less fancy.

Hrm. I have to wonder if it's a slip cover around the na/eu boxes and it still opens like the jp image. Although that ghetto cardboard cover for the bluray (if not simply an old concept photo) looks totally like something done to save costs because of that crazy jponry mentality.
