It cross play not cross buy, cross play is mainly so PC/PS users can play together on the same servers. Do people want to be segregated depending on the platform they choose?
Just seems silly to do that If i "PAID" the money to change my race to that race to lock it behind the double buy expansion pay wall.
On the same vein..If I get a character to 60 will i have to buy the expansion on the other system to play them? As lvl 60 is part of the expansion as well.
Blame Sony. When you publish a game on a console the manufacturer, in this case Sony, gets a cut. Same for Xbox too.
If that was the only case you wouldn't be able to link your accounts and play the same character on both platforms..you would have to create a new character on a different account.
SE really needs to iron out the details. At the moment there's too many questions unanswered and the next Live Letter's in April. I hope this gets brought up quickly.
I'm not sure what you are getting at but I'm saying it cross play meaning you can play the same character regardless which platform you choose as long as you buy the game for that chosen platform (same for expansion). Cross buy would mean you buy it for PC you get it for Playstation for free or vise versa. So it cross play not cross buy.
I guess..I just consider those terms opposite of what you just said...cross buy meaning I buy it for both platforms and get access.I'm not sure what you are getting at but I'm saying it cross play meaning you can play the same character regardless which platform you choose as long as you buy the game for that chosen platform (same for expansion). Like when I cross play between my ps4 and vita..i don't buy the game twice

One of the 2 things is gonna happen. Either the Au'Ra get added to the core game so you can play as them even tho you don't have the expansion, or the game will prevent you from logging on unless Heavensward is installed on the current platform. That's the only way this is gonna work.

And that is the thing. If you can play as them without the expansion (after having it installed in the other system), how far can you go? Gain new skills, new levels? At which point would they put up a wall and say 'This is as far as you can go, you have to install the expansion'?One of the 2 things is gonna happen. Would be much easier (but not user-friendly) on SE's part to just blanket it over: Any expansion material, content-wise, that has been detected on your character will require expansion installation.
And that's the real question right there..If I'm level 60 and au ra. And just crafting in Ul'dah..have bought the expansion on the ps4..but decided to day i want to play on the pc that doesn't have the expansion..will I be able to play that character..even if they aren't an au ra but lvl 60 in uldah. And that is the thing. That cause the game was cross buy. Take for example Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD had cross save(similar to cross play) feature allowing you to use the same save file on both PS3 and Vita but still had to buy for both systems. Now like Oddworld New n' Tasty were cross buy which gave you the PS4/PS3/Vita version with one purchase and allowed cross saves.
