Sorry for the lack of update, and I probably might not going to do that anymore since this site has provided complete melding info and great way to simulate your meldings.
At least, I will provide the latest gear meld setup as follow:
Body - Forager's Vest - 12 gathering - 6 perception
Hand - Forager's Wristguards - 10 gathering - 4 perception
Legs - Forager's Slops - 6 gathering - 1 perception - 4 GP
Feet - Forager's Shoes - 1 gathering - 6 perception - 4 GP
Off Tools - Forager's Sledgehammer / Forager's Scythe - 14 gathering - 25 perception - 4 GP (still impossible to max meld)
And my melds:
Body - Gathering IV - Gathering IV - Perception IV
Hand - Gathering IV - Gathering II - Perception II
Legs - Gathering IV - GP IV - Perception I - INT 2 (explained on next post after this)
Feet - Perception IV - GP IV - Gathering I
Off Tools - None yet since I have like 440+ alone to gather the highest star nodes
However, the latest introduced nodes from patch 2.5 like Rosemary, Virgin Basilisk Egg, etc will require 450+ for both gathering (just to be able to gather it) and perception (to get at least 1% chance). If you still only have Forager/Supra for your main hand, you will definitely need to meld your off tools. If you have Lucis however, melding off tools are not necessary.
Also for last reminder, Militia Bracelets also has undergone changes since patch 2.4 (I think) which has max meld of 10 GP instead of 7 GP for pre 2.3. However, re-melding this might not yield great benefit since gatherers only need 600 GP for most part, unless if we could somehow push our GP loot to 650 in the future which means re-melding might help a great deal.

BTW, many players might miss these, but certain nodes does have certain main stat attribute requirement for giving a +1 gathering attempt. Therefore, relating to melding, you might want to meld extra main stat attribute to cover the loss needed.
Here are the charts, which should be still relevant until 3.0 (introducing new race):
For example, Mining node in North Thanalan requires 202 STR and the Botany node in South Thanalan requires 202 INT. On a Moon Miqo'te, they certainly lacks both 2 STR & 1 INT needed, and so they need to meld extra stat to one of their gears.
As for me, since my Highlander only lacks 2 INT, I decide to meld one into my Forager's slops. However, in future circumstances where I find a node that's lacking PIE, I might need extra meld to cover the loss.
Or for players who don't really have access to melding or somehow makes their melding setup taking many overmelds, swapping with bonus stat accessories might also helps.
However, all this info are really not necessary for casuals. Just a bit of tidbit info you might find useful. A big thanks to this post.![]()
i120 ironworks rings adds 21 to main stat. This may be enough for some races to reach int 202 for example without melds.
Forager's offhand meld question.
I just got lucis tools and have now full BiS set. All gear and accessories are fully melded, offhand - no.
My current stats are 478 gath, 461 per, 636 gp.
Now i am thinking about meld strategy for offhands.
I see that i want to have 4 more gp or 2 at least to be able to reach 650 gp using food with nonprimary gp bonus - Haddock Dip (gp+10/12), Crowned Pie (gp+10). So, i plan to meld gp materia 4 first. And i don't understand what to meld next - perception? Or gathering > 478 may be useful too? As i understood hardest to get items are non hq and i have enough stats to get them.

Alx789, given what you say here, I don't think I would meld anything to the offhand other than those GP. Instead, I'd take a wait-and-see approach, to see what you need when they introduce both new nodes and new gear.
Hardest to get items require both 450 gathering, and 450 perception (to get HQ). Given that, if anything, I'd meld perception (increase that HQ chance) but I don't think I'd want to do that prior to seeing what the next tier of nodes is going to require.

I had to be at 492 gathering to hit Virgin Basilisk and Rossmarry in one go. Which meant Maxing Gathering in my off hand. (My guess is the threshold is 490)Forager's offhand meld question.

I will try these items. I found out that with gp+4 meld only i will be unable to reach 690 gath / 650 gp witout fc buff, but can use 600 gp rotations under food only.
------
Tried. With my 478 gath i need 2 shoots to open slot. And then can get 12 items with low hq chance.
Another way - toil opens normally, then 6 shoots.
Market: nq price not interesting at all, hq 15-20K

Got a small question about fishing jewelry. I'm currently using gryphonskin rings / choker / wristbands and rose gold earrings (i70). These can have +5 gathering and +5 perception while Dodore can only have +4 / +4. For fishinng I really dont care about GP's.
I'm pretty sure most of the fishers are using DOW/DOM jewelry.
With the patch 2.5, there is new i110 jewelry items. Did anyone try to meld +6 / +6 ? Or is the cap still at +5 / +5 for these ?
Cant get an answer from google, most of the posts out there are very old...
Check my crafting rotations guide on lodestone (1/2/3/4 stars crafting rotations + 1/2 stars mass production macros) :
