Speaking of WoD, I remember having to Ressurect close to 30 times because people kept dying to the different Angra Mainyu mechanics. It was kind of hilarious, though the horrifying part was being a Scholar and having to ask for Ballads.

Ok so, I was at 29 TT cards and wanted ANY card, so I decided to run Sastasha normal hoping I'd get the Sahagin card. So I get in there and the tank doesn't move for some time. Goes, "Protect?" and I say that I have Cleric Stance and that you really don't NEED protect in here. I get an, "Ew" from the tank and a disagree emote from the archer, who then casts Protect. So really, saying anything was a waste of time. The tank then proceeds to speed run the entire dungeon. Nobody died, but I feel sorry for new healers, who might not be able to handle that much damage that fast.
Not much of a horror story, but I just came back from a long break and I've been terrified that people would complain I don't dps enough as a healer...so this kind of surprised me lol. But hey, at least I got the card!!
Exactly. Although there are ways you can still dps during heatwave without stressing out your party's healers. When I am on monk, I save Bloodbath and Second Wind for it so I can continue to dps during heatwave without requiring any heals. Not really. It's a 5 second mechanic where everyone is supposed to stand still. Would it be the WHM's fault if they had died to Blighted pre-nerf in t6? No. Of course not. It's the job of everyone in the party to avoid the mechanic. And spending 2,128 MP to avoid a 5 second move is kind of irrational, not to mention that time could be spent DPSing or healing the MT or something. A Medica II (or 2 if you have 2 WHMS) and a SCH's succor is more than enough to mitigate it.
Fried popoto enthusiast.
Personally, protect over cleric stance any day :/
This reminded me of a newbie healer I had in sastasha. I was helping a guildie (THM) while lvling my lancer for invigorate and the tank was also a fc mate. A little in the THM says to me "this CNJ is awful fond of clerics stance". And sure enough it was on all the time with her dpsing then having to spam cure to get the tanks hp back to 'not almost dead'. I decided ok she's a newbie (leaf and all) I kindly (kindly being the key word here) explain about stance dancing and clerics and she starts yelling at me out of nowhere.
"What the hell do you know!"
"It's going faster stfu"
"Stop being so self righteous" (made no sense seeing as all I did was explain stance dancing)
She ended up getting booted because the obscene language knew no bounds, not for the cleric stance healing...
This is why I'm sometimes too horrified to give newbies help...
I don't know if you ever scholar'ed a low level dungeon, but the fairy is enough even without protect, and with CS you are practically a 3rd DPS, if synched you often do more damage than non-synched "real" DPS.
Untraited protect doesn't even come close to CS in usefulness in low level content.
This is, of course, absolutely true; unfortunately very few people seem to believe it.I don't know if you ever scholar'ed a low level dungeon, but the fairy is enough even without protect, and with CS you are practically a 3rd DPS, if synched you often do more damage than non-synched "real" DPS.

Alternatively, slap Protect on everyone, do the cross-class swap dance, fairy is more than enough to keep everyone alive while you just book smack for 30 seconds then go nuts in Cleric's Stance. Best of both worlds with 30 second downtime (potentially less if you make the transition between pulls since you have travel time anyway)I don't know if you ever scholar'ed a low level dungeon, but the fairy is enough even without protect, and with CS you are practically a 3rd DPS, if synched you often do more damage than non-synched "real" DPS.

I had a really derpy SCH with me in a Ifrit HM run last night. He has his fairy cast a ton of buffs on the party before the tank even pulls. Naturally, Ifrit isn't having any of that crap and kills the fairy. SCH decides to not summon and completely gimps our combined healing until he dies. Only after I rezzed him does he decide to bring his fairy back.
Yeah this works, but in Rydiah situation the tank started a speed run pull, so the 30 sec. book slapping may or may not have become a problem then xDAlternatively, slap Protect on everyone, do the cross-class swap dance, fairy is more than enough to keep everyone alive while you just book smack for 30 seconds then go nuts in Cleric's Stance. Indeed, probably why they were waiting for Protect in the first place.
Funny enough, I imagine it would've taken the tank at least 30 seconds from the start of the dungeon to stop at the camp spot he wanted, so it probably would've worked out anyway. lol.
