Someone's "need" for gear is subjective. You are saying that the tiny upgrade that gear gives you (gear that will be replaced in a couple hours when you level up) is more important than the other person's need for GC seals or desynth experience/desynth loot. Battlecraft Demimateria Is are like, 10k on my server, whereas a level 15 HQ gear item with the same stats as a piece of aetherial dungeon gear only costs 3-4k.

Personally, when running endgame dungeons, I'm torn. If something is a clear upgrade for a party member, I generally pass. If it's something I can Need on and it's a desynth class that I have at 100+, I will often Need. Same with Antique items which are effectively always my desynth class (since I can choose). That may be selfish of me, but an i90-i100 item can yield 2x Battlecraft Demimateria IIIs in addition to getting me a fair chunk of desynth exp. Those are 150k on my server, for up to 300k from a single dungeon drop. That's a fair bit of cash in my opinion, and my need for that money is similar to your need for a sidegrade/minor upgrade. You can disagree, but so can I.

On top of that, there's also glamour. I've run ST specifically to get a piece of glamour for my current class that I once had but didn't anymore (I need to stop compulsively desynthing my glamour gear). I ran as that class and needed on the item, despite having an i120 item in that slot. Was that considerate to the other person in the party who was wearing an i90 item in that slot and also needed on it, but didn't win, but would have if I hadn't rolled? Maybe not, but again, what someone else needs an item for is not necessarily what you need it for, and it really isn't your place to say your need is greater than theirs.

SE claims to have a policy where the latest and newest dungeon drops are not desynthable (or turninable for seals) to prevent people from repeatedly needing on the same new items before other people have had a chance to get them. (SE quoted this policy when explaining why the new i70 Artisan's set is not desynthable even though that would make all sorts of sense.) However, with the 2.5 dungeons, all of the new dungeon sets (Bogatyr's, Picaroon's, Varlet's) are desynthable and turninable. So, I clearly don't understand their inconsistently-applied policy, but they do officially/theoretically have one in place to prevent this problem in the latest dungeons.
