I don't think its a matter of any more jobs coming in THIS expansion. It people saying that SAM is NEVER coming; which is absurd.

data mine ff14 yo, theres been a "samurai" folder since like 2.2 in the data entangled
I believe they said DRK will be a Parry Dodge tank, so the slot was filled (sort of, can make thematic adjustments of course). When Samurai does eventually come around (and it will; it is a pretty popular job) it will be a Parry Tank (since we don't really have one).
Points to note:
* SAM has highest DPS possible between all tanks
* Has abilities to let it parry up to 75-80% of the dmg that would be taken
* Has counter-attack abilities (which aid it in its higher DPS than other tanks)
* Tends to focus on single target tanking more-so than PLD
* High HP value (higher than WAR) but not much self-health recovery (less than any other tank)
Seems like there are some people that want SAM to be tank and some who want it to be DD, can't recall when but I believe Yoshida said he see's SAM more of a DPS job (but they're still deciding). Regardless I'm sure it will look cool, but I kind of prefer a DPS job as well - unless there is some sort of backing like FFVII "sword made from super dense impossible to wield alien rock metal" I mentally see the weapon as a great cutting yet fairly fragile weapon and to parry would be unwise (unless it is to save your life or limb), rather dodge - save your weapon's strength for rekting (they don't have wiggly bend like other land's weapons, less resilient).
As an aside (not directed at you really lol); I never really felt like FFXI's SAM was "designed" to be a parry tank, certainly they have the best parry but to level your parry was rare and far between (saying they could parry well but rarely did, imo matches the "fast movement, respect the weapon, but can save your life" aspect)- felt more like a bruiser or a DD that could temporarily take the heat.

Woe to the vanquished, mournful tear, glorious...Eternal King...Ah...Whom today we commemorate...I am the death of death.
Probably won't be until the next expansion if we every travel to Garlean and Doman territories it would be a good chance for them to add more unique jobs.
Eh, considering how tanking worked in FFXI, I find it entirely believable.
If we are talking XI, Ninja was designed to be a DPS job and not a tank...and well...
I personally think the next class to be put in the game will be blue mage not red mage like everyone is wanting.
I'm actually unsure if "Red Mage" classic will enter into the game. I'm more inclined to believe we'll end up with a "Magic Knight" type class that can do melee and ranged magic damage based around magic weapon buffs. Really... In the party mechanics that we have, a true "Red Mage" is hard to fit in because they literally have a bit of everything... so Healing magic, protection magic, damage magic, debuff magic and buff magic... Same With Blue Mage, and both have the jack of all trades kind of theme so they can fit into any role as necessary... Just the way FFXIV is set up with defined class roles would make them hard to fit in.
If they do do Samurai, I'm expecting a DPS inspired by Cyan from FFVI.
I'm also still waiting on my Chemist/Potions healing class.
