Has it been confirmed that the island is Allag in nature or are we just assuming it is because it looks similar? It's entirely possible the Allag stole/adapted technology they unearthed from the 1st Astral era.

That is one possibility. Following the FFVI plot, the espers (ancient primals?) moved the sealed Triad to a "hidden land" which was later found by the Allag, who used what was found there to create magitek. This could have happened in the First Umbral, when the 'gods' left Eorzea.

Well, Lahabrea him self said that The Allage Ultima weapon was powered by "The Heart of Sabik" which predated the allagan by so much that even they did not understand it's true purpose. So this could lend support to my theory that The Ascians are the Spirits of warriors from the 1 Umbral Era's Calamity that ended the "Divine Era" that the twelve ruled during.

The longer this game goes on the more assassin's creed/halo vibe I'm getting from these previous eras. The modern city's are descendants of a 5th Astral Nation, the 5th Astral Nations are survivors of the 5th Umbral disaster that destroyed Allage, and the Allage seem to have adapted some kind of "Precursor/Forerunner" tech (the Heart of Sabik and potentially others) from some one who predates even them, and The Ascians seem to have all of the knowledge and are sharing none of it with any one. I'm really leaning towards the Ascians having some kind of connection with "The 1st Civilization" that existed in The Divine era prior to the 1st Umbral Era Calamity.

Maybe "The Waring Triad" is in fact Hydaelyn (Light), Zodiark (Darkness), and Cloud of Darkness (Void aka Anti-Existence) and that their conflict is older than even The Twelve and The Primals themselves.
