    Sure, but the solution to the gear problem should have been to make it less annoying. Not make crafting even more annoying than it already is.

    Everyone being capable of crafting everything already made it impossible for one character to control the market. Forcing players to have specializations has a lot more potential to lead to people controlling the market.

    If SE is steering the crafting system that direction, I'm not going to like it. The restrictions on desynth leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but at least there wasn't many instances where a single desynth class was the only way to obtain something (the exception I believe is the cooking's glamour items received from some fish).

    That's one of the reasons that I enjoy this game, one character for all content.

    This! This a hundred times THIS! I want to be able to do everything on my own. One ultimate hero. NOT one main character and a few useless crafting alts.

    Im pro or it tbh. Xi handled it the same way. It didn't mean you couldn't change your main one, but being able to be max all crafts cuts down on profits for everyone because everyone can make -everything- It won't be all that bad you will just have to get a little picky on what you want to main is all <3 makes me glad that when they mentioned it be like this back in 1.0 i leveled a few crafters in the expectation of this. I still won't be able to specialize in everything but ill have 3-4

    It's supporting the use of alts, which I don't think is the direction SE should go. Why go through all this trouble of allowing your character to be every class (gathering and crafting included), only to veer off here?

    How do you think people would take it if SE announced that you would "specialize" in a single battle class as well?

    This is bad for anyone that loves being self-sufficient.

    Honestly, I wish there was data showing the percentage of players that crafted back before 2.1 and the percentage of players that actually craft now. I'd bet that the percentage is far smaller nowadays with how increasingly annoying they make crafting with each update.

    With lock outs and super grindy relics, they're basically doing it already. I wouldn't be surprised if they made it even more time consuming for DoW and DoH to gear up.

    Sure, lockouts prevent you from gearing every job, but when they introduce a higher tier of gear they make the previous tier a lot easier to obtain ensuring that you can have all your DoW at a functional level for most if not all endgame content.

    Not only have they not been following this logic for DoH (or at the very least it hasn't be made easier to the same extent) forcing specializations would remove the ability to use all DoH for "higher tier crafts".

    This is different than lock-outs or relic quests. Limiting your total advancement (per week/day) of your character is different than forcing you to choose a single class to have the possibility to obtain max results. Currently, one character can level everything (minus desynth) to 100%. Even if you're limited by how much you advance total, with time, everything can reach it's best potential.

    "Pick a Specialization" is a fancy way of saying, "Pick only one class that can actually reach it's potential".

    Maybe specialists can only craft stared items?

    But yeah...I was planning on leveling wvr and gsm, but with specialists announced I don't think I'll bother I it means I can't advance them further than whatever specialty I choose.
