Tbh it's only this game. Other recent FF titles have none of this nonsense. For me though, newer games offline or not, the growing distaste for the series won't go away easily.

Yeah thats the typical difference between offline and online/MMO types, I get that, but in general still leaves a distaste for the series. I played XI for years and while some of the game had RNG to it, other parts were just grinds, yet with visible ends to them. You knew how long you had to go, and you planned accordingly. I still enjoyed it quite a bit and was able to ignore the RNG I didn't like, while still feeling viable in the game and exploring majority of the content. I can't do that here since nearly everything is RNG.

It was one item out of the entire game and you had an accessory to increase the drop rate. You could also buy them from merchants or, if you had one already, you could get 3 by desynthing a final weapon (guaranteed drops, unlike FFXIV's desynth). It was nothing like the grinds in this game.
BTW, Vanille's death trick took an absurd amount of time. It was only useful to finish one side quest early and get the growth egg as soon as you landed on Pulse. Killing them normally is way quicker with Fang in your party.
