Yeah, it's kind of been the bane of fresh 50's.
I hit level fifty about three weeks after 2.0 came out and even with four of us from our FC in those dungeons together, other people still spazzed out about watching cutscenes in the Inn.
I was on a ps3 back then, and I literally got locked out of the final boss trying to skip the cutscenes. It's a pretty horrible way to end that part of the story line unfortunately.
The good news is, as stated, the groups basically get a lot better from there and luckily most of the cutscenes occur before or after the encounters, and not during it.

    Congrats on being fifty also!

What ruined the fun for me
damn.. for a moment I thought you were gonna say summoners.. cause they "Ruin" everything.. get it?

Having played on both "English" and JP server (Tonberry and Masamune)..
I have to say that the English community has pretty bad tolerance for new players..
JP, on the other hand, are more willing to wait for new players, etc, probably because it's part of their culture.

I'm not suggesting that you should change to a JP server, but I believe this is something that us, English players, should pick up on.
Just something for us to think about..

Also, I'm sorry to hear that you're having a bad time

Well, you have to realize that you're running the content with probably 6 or 7 other people that's already seen the cutscenes.
Unless you're of the kind that watches the repeat cutscenes every single time, I'm sure you can understand where they're coming from.

Having said that, I play with a couple of friends who like to watch the cutscene and I'd usually accommodate (as I'm the tank most of the time). But in those two instances, cut scenes are way too loaded, it will easily add 10 minutes + on a 20 minute content. It's simply too big of an inconvenience to everybody else who's already seen it all.

My advice to you would be to either grow a thick skin and let people say whatever they wish. Most people won't even bother kicking anybody for going afk or dc during those instances so that's nice.
Either queue as a dps and be left behind, so you can watch the cutscenes in peace or try to find a group on party finder that can accommodate your needs.

If the CSs were unskippable no endgame people would bother running it at all, and new people would have to wait an ungodly amount of time for the queue to fill.

It does suck for new people not getting to watch the CSs, but it sucks for the 7 people if they forced to sit through them too. Unfortunately it's a no win situation, basically because of how the dungeon is designed... they shouldn't have put such lengthy CSs mid-dungeon (and thankfully haven't done this with anything subsequently)

I was pretty upset when I went through, too. I refused to skip them in castrum, but gave up in prae. However, I didn't let it pish me away from the game, and after repeating those dungeons many times, I've learned the mechanics and now have fun with them. I recommend the PF route for your friends.. If they made it so people couldn't run ahead with someone in a cutscene, I imagine many people would start being vote kicked for it..

I feel your pain back in the early days of 2.0 I was told to do the same thing didn't like it but got over it. Just so you know you don't have to skip the cs but don't expect or demand that others wait on you to finish also if they kick you for watching a cs just report them.

Now on to why they were happy that there were new people its because the last two story dungeons are too long with too many cs so ya they gona be happy if there's a bonus.

Now on your idea to improve this no its not a good idea for a few reasons.

1 It would turn other people who have it cleared all ready. So the story roulette will go untouched which is how lots of people who haven't cleared get the people for them by duty finder.

2 This would give trolls and the like a new weapon to torment people.

3 And lastly you don't even need a full 8 man party to clear it any more so they would rather just kick the new people and just 7 man it or heck just 4 man it. Rather than have to stay longer so new people would be getting the big hit in your idea.

Really? That simple? All the people I see on the party finder are looking for endgame farming, so I never actually tried it. My fault I guess. Still, the duty finder should have this kind of option as well don't you think?

I don't know how different party finder is from duty finder, but I find that really strange. I normally wait more than 30 minutes when trying to find duties with my DPS (all languages selected)

that's because duty finder puts you at the bottom of the queue of all dps on the datacenter, to try and find them a group. Party finder is more of a manual form of duty finder, where you put yourself into a group and try to find party members yourself.

as an example, make a party finder for castrum, with story mode no cutscene skipping, then go to rev toll and "/shout castrum in PF, no cutscene skipping, newbie bonus available!"

you will have a full party within 5 mins. everyone wants a guaranteed newbie bonus, even if it means a guaranteed extra wait.

As a japanese language and culture student this makes total sense to me (my major is japanese language). I really wanted to try Masamune, but I already have the occasional latency problem in english servers because of location. I don't live in north america nor in europe (so if you noticed weird grammar in my posts, this is why). Even thought my connection is really fast (close to 100mb down) sometimes latency still shows in AOEs.
