    This lockout issue stems in large part from the general overall lack of content in Xiv in the first place.

    I do very little endgame content because of this 8 man static situation, I do not like pugs, hate DF, and find that PF often isn't much better.

    I would love to play with folks I have known for 10yrs+ but they simply cant help the stragglers in the FC after they have been locked out.

    I know people from our old Xi days who dealt with tragic drop rates there who complain about them here as well, but I know these people and that's not the actual issue.

    It is the lack of options concerning content that wears them down, rotating the same content over and over just to see gear always drop they do not need, this reminds them of those tragic drop percentages from Xi.

    The 8 man restrictions "with" lockouts suck, I could get on board with more/alternate content, as well as a token system which would at least let them know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

    Why SE has decided to diminish Guild style play and social environment is beyond me, we're still a tight bunch because we've known each other for so long, however our social interaction beyond 8 man combat cells is limited these days to chewing the fat on the mansion lawn.

    One of these static tanks and also our FC leader is my son, whom I never get to battle with because he's "locked out".

    They can help you clear the coil even if they are locked out you just get less chests. Now then you have to convince people to go back and help you but if they are willing they can go in since SE changed it awhile ago.

    I gravitated away from Coil, that was my decision, I agree with what your saying here, I just think the token system is a sound suggestion as well.

    A handful of us got ran through turns 1-4 with over geared vets so those turns just got rolled, we then got dropped off at the end of turn 4 and were told "have fun with turn 5" lol.

    I cant blame them for this, they bashed their heads on it for too long, and finally cleared.

    It's just the way of things I guess.^^

    This is true to help out people once, for a clear. But on a consistent basis? It's not a feasible system as is.

    No FC / LS / group of Friends (beyond 8) would want to attempt "farming" / clearing content on a weekly basis with the current system: You either get 1 or 0 Chests / Rewards running it a 2nd time in the week, in trying to help the 9th and beyond members.

    I really hope there is a better system in 3.0.

    Its something not easy to create. If you make a more open loot system that promotes non-static groups which would lead back to a system in 1.xx. If there was truly an easy solution to this, an MMO company would of figured it out a long time ago. SE's format is basically the same as WoW's and other MMO's in terms of raid structure.

    Just because WoW does it doesn't mean it's the be-all-end-all. In terms of *community* and guild-level (FC/LS/Friends) involvement and participation, Final Fantasy XI and XIV 1.0 were far superior to what we have now.

    I'm not saying either of their systems need to be copied as is, but here's loot from one of the Bosses in an older Final Fantasy game, that didn't have 100% drop rates, but still had success for years as being viable and interesting content:

    * Kirin's Osode (39.2%)
    * Kirin's Pole (47.7%)
    * Dryadic Abjuration: Body (40.7%) (up to 2)
    * Neptunal Abjuration: Body (27.6%) (up to 2)
    * Wyrmal Abjuration: Legs (26.1%) (up to 2)
    * Scroll of Quake (30.3%) (up to 2)
    * Scroll of Raise III (17.6%) (up to 2)
    * Orichalcum Ingot (22.8%) (up to 2)
    * Shining Cloth (32.3%) (up to 2)
    * Damascus Ingot (39.5%) (up to 2)


    Again, I'm not advocating something exactly like that; it's just an example. It all goes hand-in-hand. For that older Final Fantasy boss, the game also had far more interesting Itemization / Gearing options and Stats. It had an Abjuration / Cursed Gear system. It dropped important Crafting Materials that mattered (and not just garbage Mats like we have now), etc.

    But most importantly, it was a system that let players participate outside of just "8 people only!" You didn't get the "Sorry find your own group. Can't do any End Game raiding w/ you. Ever." mentality like we have now.

    I agree with the OP, I hope they abolish lockouts all together, why prevent people from playing your game after working so hard on it? RNG loot + token system is the way to go in my opinion, the RNG loot gives people incentive to keep running when their tokens are capped because of the *chance* they might still get something and the token system prevents anybody from being left out completely. Right now with lockout we're ending up with people who raid for months and don't get a single item from their effort and others who get everything they want in a month or 2, the system just isn't fair.

    Technically, we already have RNG loot; with lock outs. Since we can't pick what loot drops. Most of the time, loot goes into the void.
