It's time to reevaluate the idea of adding a PLEX/Chronoscroll-like system to FFXIV

The only reason a company with stable, committed subs would decide to do this is that they are giving up on fighting RMT, and plan to BECOME RMT in order to get a slice of the pie.

Not only does this legitimize RMT, unless there are numerous special checks and balances to eliminate trading of this new product, it will be incessantly exploited.

The weddings were a one and done situation for those who wanted it. This is a market people will never stop wanting. The level of crap this will create is incredible.

PLEX system should only be in games designed to handle it. Yoshida has on multiple occasions confirmed FFXIV is not designed with plex features in mind.

PLEX, F2P, B2P, P2W, Freemium... all of these can easily be implemented. Just don't expect positive results trying to tack this onto an existing Sub-based MMO, you are risking incredible damage to the playerbase loyalty, among other issues. Quit confusing apples (EVE) as oranges (FFXIV). They aren't even close to the same type of online game.

It also can bring players back to the game. Like what Blizzard is doing. Maybe you quit playing their game, they are offing you to buy sub tokens in the games launcher so maybe you don't want to pay monthly anymore but have a few million gold saved up and are willing to let another person foot the bill for your currency. You can play the game again and the company gets another active account by someone else paying for it.

Sub tokens are great for people who do not have a lot of real life money to help pay for the game.

You have yet to provide one decent example of where this has worked in a traditional MMO. Until you can show where it has worked what makes you think it would work in this game when no other MMO that has done it was successful? Eve is a compeltely different kind of game so it isn't an example of a traditional MMO.

You even hold WoW up on a pedastool when EVEN THEY HAVEN'T MADE THIS WORK. WoW does not prove your point. Not one bit.

Stop talking out of your rear and put up an actually decent example. (And do try and remember that Tera and Wildstar are both failing and are therefore not good examples) Until you do you're making assumptions that this would actually work and then you continue to argue like that OPINION is a fact. It's not a fact. It's entirely your assumption and opinion that it would benefit this game.

If players can convert a cash shop item into Gil, it gets a huge no vote from me.

No legalized rmt. Bad enough they have a cash shop already.

The arguments of it helping people who cannot afford the game. It is <50 cents a day... if you cannot afford that, well not to be mean, but you should be focusing on other priorities in life over a game. (to put it perspective... it cost you more to drive 7 miles a day then it does to play FFXIV, at least in most parts of the US)

This argument kinda reminds me of how people were up in arms about Colorado legalizing marijuana and all of the arguments that it would increase drug use, crime, poverty, etc. And the stats have not shown an increase in any of those things. People hate change.

Also, with some of the people on here saying "well if you can't afford to pay the subscription", or "its only 14.99-50 cents a day", etc....everybody's situation is different, but that doesn't mean that they can't have the same type of fun and enjoy themselves like others. People spend their time like they want and their money. We shouldn't judge people based on things like that. And once again, you people saying things like that...you need people to subscribe to the game to keep the game running. If all of a sudden people who had better things to spend their money on stopped subscribing, about half if not more of the subs in this game would be gone.

Now based on that...Since you have the people that have apparently lots of free time to put into the game amassing alot of gil, I think this idea might have some merit. People that are sitting on millions of gil because they were able to put so much more time into the game should be rewarded by being able to use said gil to play for free, while the gil they use to play for free is being used by people who don't have the time to amass the amount of gil they need to enjoy the game. Its a Win-win and I think its like paying a homage to you gamers that play hard, us gamers that can't play as hard as you are gonna pay for your subs. Whats wrong with that? Its not pay to win. What would you rather have? Most of you guys already play this game like its a job....you might as well get paid like its a job.
