Anyone know if it's a requirement to beat all the TT "trial" NPCs in the Gold Saucer before King Elmer will grant you any cards upon victory?

I've beaten Elmer many times already and he hasn't dropped a single card. I'm starting to wonder if it's because I ignored the stupid NPC in the trial area that uses the random rule. Can anyone confirm whether beating all the King's "minions" first is necessary to unlock card drops from him, or if I am just getting really unlucky in his matches?

On the positive... I bought a few gold packs yesterday and now my lowly 11-card deck is now +1 and has a Warrior of Light in it lol

It's absolutely not a requirement. Elmer just only has 3*+ cards to drop so it can be sort of rare.

I have a theory on this. (Drop rate stuff)
RNG gonna RNG is all I have to say. I would reasonably expect EX Primals to have a higher drop rate on the cards than the Hard versions, but I seriously doubt we'll know any time soon unless someone starts working to collect a massive data set.

I agree with RNG is RNG, but RNG by itself can only go so far to explain why I have beaten the Imperial Indolent at least 500 times (but honestly probably closer to 1000...not really counting) and I have gotten over 150 Livia/Rhitatyn cards combined, over 40 Nero cards and not one single Gaius.

There has to be higher percentage of RNG for lower tier cards then there is for higher tier cards for NPC's. Just because a couple lucky people went in and got a 5star card from an NPC on their first win only proves that there is RNG involved....but there is RNG involved in everything. Anyone who has farmed any of the NPCs for any amount of time will know that they see a bevy of common-uncommon cards and very few epic/legendary, regardless of how quickly you get the card you were looking for.

I see absolutely no reason why this logic can't be carried over to dungeons. Sure, I agree with being able to get a Ramuh or a Shiva card from the HM version, but being 4 star cards I would try my luck in Extreme version instead.

Vice versa - It makes much more sense to me to get a 1 star card from a low level dungeon, as opposed to the HM variant if you are given a choice between the two.

But hey, whatever works is the only right way to go about it.

*says the guy who just ranted about the logic in RNG....*
