It also the fact that Dark Knight, another Sword type Job, is getting slapped into the Tank Role as well.

SAM, also another Sword user Job, was originally considered to become another Tank Job that uses Sword but of course now SE and Yoshi-P was reconsidering it but SAM is only in the consideration zone since they did say SAM as a DPS was only a consideration and not officially confirmed a DPS Job so it may still become another Tank Job depending on their finalization of SAM.

Basically everything Sword user related right now and in 3.0 era, until a new Job is released that break the sword user = tank Job trend they have going, is just being slapped into the Tank Role.

It may be a while before we get a gunblade class, considering it's a melee DPS, and they have already conceived the idea of putting Samurai into the game, which would bring us to a total of 4 melee classes. We have yet to get a third castor dps, which I personally look forward to being made post expansion.

Maybe but they could always add some twist to new Jobs after all.

Yoshi-P did mention back in 2.0, while discussing Ninja and Gun job (before they confirmed it to be Machinist), that he wanted to introduce a Melee Mage Job which would be a type of Caster/Melee Job. That would be a interesting 3rd Caster Job.

Also, with Gunblade's nature as a Melee/Range weapon in FF14 world they could also introduce some interesting twist to it as well.

Ah I see, I was unaware of this other information (I was speaking of current state), thanks for bringing it to my attention. Soooo if dark knight used a scyth people would be groovy with it?
