The chocobo quest is level 20 not 25. XD As someone that has three characters to 50, and has gotten her mount six times now, I can say, it is tedious, YES, but its not that bad. I think every part of the quest is needed.

I DO wish that I didn't have to wait till 20 to use my collectors ED mounts etc, SPECIALLY cause I've done this all before but -shrugs- I also think the running around and learning things is an important part of the quests. Newbies should earn that mount!~

As a new player I found the process of levelling up relatively painless as far as transport and moving around went. Infact, in my case, it was queue times on dungeons and trials that ended up being the biggest issue levelling, however as an English speaker on Tonberry I figure it came with the territory. Transport though is generally only over small distances and to many players that part of the game is still one of exploration where traveling through new areas isn't as much of a chore since the sites are relatively new.

There are things that would act as roadblocks and turn offs for a new player but honestly I think they are good for the game. SE has done a brilliant job of staggering out the features and content in such a way as to allow people to learn and improve without being overwhelmed.

Far from me being unpleasant, I just replied with same tome of the negativities I felt put on the OP

To put amend, have also collected all the unlocks from 1 to 50, and from 50 to raiding, all for public view.

This isnt entirely true, there have been times on my main character where even with a mount i have missed a FATE because of distance. With relic progression, low level FATEs can be camped by higher level players making it harder for the player that is of that FATEs appropriate level to make it in a timely manner to get Gold or even Silver for decent experience.

Why would a new player hunt FATEs on the other side of the map if he have still this one mainquest to finish / to accept.
A new player would do FATEs that pop up near them, not FATEs that pop up over 300 yalms away.

I have noticed though that some replies didn't fully read what was posted or did not understand what I meant when I said I was leveling an Alt, and by that I mean an Alt Character (not a different job). I am a Legacy player from 1.0 (one of the few that enjoyed the game). Having started with all 50s from the release of 2.0 I didn't know the aches and pains of grinding job after job with FATEs or dungeons (I did do them with SMN/SCH/NIN). I mentioned this as a personal taste of dislike for spending 40+ minutes in an instance (especially when other players just want to by pass trash for a book clear). This is how I feel as a player going back and starting from scratch.

Felis, I have played MMOs for the "Adventure." We are adventurers, which usually means you go where you're not suppose to. Being confined to a small area in an already small world is horrible. While you make mention of quests. Yes, SE (Yoshi P) pretty much handed us our first 50 by doing story and quests, this game goes beyond one job on a single toon. These post I made are an idea that a player that "Wants" to play this way can. Most players from FFXI would understand; whereas, those that came from WoW or WoW-like games would not.
