Okay Im freaking out a little.

There was PSN maintenance a day or so ago, and my PS4 was online during it at the time because I activated it as my primary and was active before it began, so I was able to stay on during it. Which I've done before on my PS3 as well when it was on there before I upgraded, but now I'm freaking out because the game is saying my character config data is corrupted, but I have no idea as to why.

It was working perfectly fine yesterday when I was online and I did two treasure maps, spoke with retainers, then got off. Nothing more. Why am I seeing this message? Do I really need to delete my character?!

Definitely don't delete your character. Contact SE's customer support. All character data is stored on their server, not your computer. You may have no control over the issue going on and they are the ones who can guide you in the right direction.

Correct. Well, mostly. Character data - what your character's stats, posessions, etc. are - is all stored server side. Configuration files - hotbar layouts, saved gear sets, etc - are actually stored locally, and that's probably what's had an issue.

Contact SE Customer Support. They'll probably tell you to delete the character data files on your system (NOT in-game).

Who am I actually going to be able to contact though? It would have worked better if it was through the game and I was speaking to a GM, they're at least available at nearly all times, whereas their customer support isn't even available today or tomorrow in the slightest and only at very specific times. I don't want to wait 2 days to get this fixed.

I found the corrupted data in my system, should I proceed with deleting that then just have to take the time to recreate it as it was in the game?

This would be the fastest way, yes.

Your character is saved on their server, it won't get deleted unless you delete it in game. What probably need to do is what others have suggested just clear your local data on your console. If the problem is the character data server side you will need to contact SE to resolve it which they should have no problem doing, all MMO's in my experience keep backup data for restoration of characters and such.
