There's nothing elitist about saying not everything is for everyone. If it's too much effort for you, move on to something else. RIGHT NOW relic isn't the best there is and once the new step comes out on tuesday people will complain about how it's too much of a grind yet again. Relic has already had several nerfs but sure I can agree that the content of the books could be revised because they are by far the worst step right now. But everything else? Fine as is, besides materia which are server/user dependent due to stat demands every step has been nerfed drastically and made easier.
First step? No one complains about DF hard mode primals anymore. Zenith? The mists cost pennies in soldiery which the game hands out like candy. Atma? Atmas drop really fast now, on average you can do all in a single evening instead of taking weeks to months. Animus books? The contents are still bad but the books are only 500 soldiery instead of 1500, and again the game hands it out like candy. Alexandrite for Novus? Drastically increased drop rate from FATE, halved cost from soldiery (400 from 800), Allied Seals? Gains were doubled last patch while alex price was left untouched (unlike say ventures which doubled in price). Light for Nexus? Light gains were DOUBLED.
People that still complain really do want instant gratification, with minor investment you can get full relic in about a month right now, that's way faster than it took most to even get animus before. The relic is there to take time and it always will, no amount of complaining or claiming "elitist!!" will change that.
Atmas were already nerfed a ton. Yes it does suck that they do not give any actual boost to your relic upon gaining them but that was always true and people have complained about that since day one and it hasn't changed. And frankly because of how easy they are to get now I don't even mind it. The only step I could rightfully agree on that could use adjustment are the books. Halve the monster requried, update the dungeons so there at least are no more repeats. Maybe even cut down on the amount of books requires but in that case drastically increase the amount of soldiery needed for each one. But that's about it, it's a time sink and there for a reason.
