    Dungeon Etiquette?

I've been playing for a bit off and on, but I'm only finally in the levels where the main story line is requiring that I dungeon dive with a "Light Party".

I've gone through 2 of the 3 dungeons, and (as I sit in front of the last dungeon waiting for the duty finder to tell me people are joining) I can't help but wonder...
Exactly what is the etiquette for dungeoneering?

Am I supposed to /shout for people to join? Do I just wait patiently?
I've tried asking my peers in my server, but no one will tell me.

Apparently this is too n00bish of a question?
But, truly. What am I supposed to do? I don't want to be "that guy" who everyone goes on about who plays like a douche... I'd like to know how to make the most of this game so that I, and everyone I come in contact with, can continue enjoying it.

At the very least, if someone could direct me to a place that explains dungeons in more detail, I would be most appreciated!

It all depends there are a few ways to do dungeons when you register for the duty finder it searches for players on your data center not just your server. You can also create a party finder with the dungeon you need which might get you a better result than shouting.

Using the Duty Finder to join dungeons is perfectly fine and how most people get their dungeons done. It grabs people from multiple servers that are interested in running the same dungeon that you are (or are doing a roulette). Make sure to turn all languages on and "join in progress" too - sometimes it can help with queue times.

If your class is a DPS role (Red icon) you will probably have to put up with long Duty Finder queue times. You can make the most of your wait times by doing FATEs, sidequests, or leves while waiting for the party to fill. You can also work on other classes while you are waiting for a queue to pop. You don't have to stay in the same area as the dungeon, but shouting for people that may want to do the dungeon or using the Party Finder may be helpful. Make sure not to spam the chat though! If you can find a Tank or Healer to join you for the DF queue it should significantly lower your wait time.

It may be worth your time to look around for a Linkshell or Free Company that helps out new players, it may make it easier to get things done if you can find people to consistently play with.

Also, I'm sure you're aware, but just in case you aren't: you don't have to sit in front of the dungeon to wait. You can queue up in Duty Finder from the main menu almost anywhere in the world, with only a few exceptions. You can always keep doing other quests and content while you wait for your DF to find you a party for the dungeon you've chosen! Hope this is a bit of help.

Especially for DPS classes the queues can be up to an hour long (on my server, in the dead times). I usually either just fish and watch Youtube or something else extremely easy so I don't miss the queue popping. For you I'd recommend FATES, so you continue getting experience points.

And absolutely, having a tank friend rushes things along very quickly. Healers not as much but a definite improvement. Sometimes you can find veteran players who would be willing to help you out. Sometimes I go on runs in the low level dungeons with new players on my scholar, to help them out.

    Good luck

/shout'ing for dungeons was sometimes a thing when the game was new, but now that the population is top heavy, you probably won't get far by trying to preform. Just stick with the DF, yep.

If it's your first time in an instance, it can be polite to let others know you are new. Copperbell Mines, for example, has some particular boss mechanics.

Either ask your FC if anyone from there will run it with you, or else just join the Duty Finder queue and wait for that system to put a group together for you.
