There is no avoiding getting double teamed with three factions when participating in battle. If two factions are fighting with each other the third faction has to pick one, if the third faction divides up then the other two faction will focus on them as they have the numbers advantage (higher success rate), thus being teamed by the other two factions. The only way a faction can avoid getting double teamed is if they remove themselves entirely from battle making the other two factions fight each other, in which case generally the faction that retreats loses due to lack of points.

It's not that you can completely avoid getting double teamed. That's not what he is trying to say.

You have to divide your forces. You have to attack both sides equally and not give up ground. It is the positioning of your raid that makes you the most susceptible. If you are spread out then you look like a bigger force and will naturally keep the other teams backed off. If you shrink into a tiny cluster then teams will close in because you look small and weak. This is basic strategy. This is mother nature. This is why guys stick out their chests and stretch like gorillas when they see a good looking girl.
