When we create Grand Company gear, we keep in mind their respective colors and themes. Since we created this gear with this concept in mind, and especially since your allegiance to a Grand Company makes a difference in the game, we don't currently have any plans to make Grand Company gear dyeable. However, that's not to say that we definitely won’t do this in the future. We'll be sure to let you know if it should change.

Free Company gear might work! Or just gear that looks like GC gear, but is dyeable. Also, it'd be really cool to get Crystal Braves uniforms. When we create Grand Company gear, we keep in mind their respective colors and themes. Someone apparently is not aware that they can change Grand Companies and obtain new uniforms.
One thing I found interesting is that the Storm Sergeant's Tabard is dyeable, but not the Flame Sergeant's Tabard or the Serpent Sergeant's Tabard! I remember seeing a Dragoon that had dyed it soot black and it looked very nice, but I was disappointed I could not replicate that look since I'm in the Immortal Flames, haha.
I usually dont do this but I really have to call BS on this. Your Grand Company plays absolutely no role in the game. Zero connection with story, quests, or anything related to the game. All Grand Companies is are vendors, nothing more. The terribly shoe-horned GC requirement into frontlines show just how irrelevant they really are.
I am all for making Grand Company a important decision that impacts the world around you. We love quests expanding lore of each GC, story about inidividual GC members, and for the GC to some how uniqually progress YOUR character. But sadly those things dont exist. And claiming they do is pretty intellectually dishonest.

Wait, the Immortal Flames actually have a color scheme, and not just whatever random colors the devs feel like throwing up on their gear that day? Some of the Flames gear is blue, some is blue, green, brown, and black all at the same time, some of it is purple, some of it has gold accents, but some of it has pink accents, etc. etc. When the Flames gear is basically every (ugly) color in the rainbow already, the excuse that they have to stick to their "respective colors" sounds ridiculous.
Well that would kinda call for whole removal of GC color schemes. Example would be Penn State University & University of Alabama's football programs uniforms. Most plain uniforms ever (looks like practice jerseys) & aside from their logos, which they don't always include on their uniform. If they were to change their colors and showed up in the same color scheme then how would you tell who is who? Though, there isn't too much content where GC color scheme is involved anyway except the uniforms.
At best, I would say allow dyes that match the main primary/secondary colors for each GC if you want to keep that same color scheme idea.
Alternatively if you were to allow dye-able uniforms for GCs, you could drop their color schemes and add in certain design schemes for the GCs like with the elite gear that you can only access with each GC.
Giving each GC the same color/design options each would pretty much eliminate any unique qualities they have in appearance, except the crest design... Though that personally wouldn't help me tell the difference since I keep my camera zoomed out too far to see crests

How about at least making it so our retainers can where the gear of the GC we are a part of? Hell, with the loss of the "class" requirement for the three new jobs in Heavensward, can we have a questline so we can make our retainers into the jobs they should be? Not being able to use any of the job specific gear on them is quite underwhelming. When we create Grand Company gear, we keep in mind their respective colors and themes. I'd rather be in Zitah
The development team is aware that players are unable to outfit their retainers in job-specific gear and are currently looking into a system that would allow retainers the ability to support jobs. While this is something planned for the future, we will be sure to follow-up once we have some details to share. How about at least making it so our retainers can where the gear of the GC we are a part of?
