All the faces look too similar. I also agree on the height/size issues. They blame gear and how it fits but there has to be some way around it. I also hate how most pants look bad because they were designed for male bodies.

More face options, sure i guess... certain races do have decent older faces, Roegadyn and Hilanders for instance.

They add more customization options in every major patch and you can pay a very small amount of gil to change your characters appearance. Being an ex FFXI vet this game couldn't feel more FF to me personally (appearance wise) and they're expanding on that all the time.

Oh...there is but...
It would take an astronomical amount of development and testing time to get right.
We already have a LOT of options and combinations, and they're specifically chose to look aesthetically pleasing...to the Japanese and JRPG fans in general.
A lot of options have to be sacrificed to save development time on new armor and weapons. Hats especially. If there's too much deviation in body or facial structure, then a lot more work has to be done to get it right.
There's a reason even the big budget hyper detailed Elder Scrolls games don't have a lot of intrinsic differences between their races.
