Suggested Improvements to Need/Greed/Pass System

No offense but OP makes it sound like dungeons can only be ran once. If you don't get an item you want because someone else rolled need, there is nothing stopping you from running it again until you get the item. FCoB being the only exception. As such, I feel that the system is fine as it is.

If you asked "I need _____ for an alt", other players might just pass on them. For me, In DF I assume players are just rolling on dungeon items because they want it for Glamour/Desynth/GC seals, so I don't put my hopes up to high.

The suggestion is to disallow from clicking Need, not from clicking Greed along with everyone else. No one wants to take away your ability to get the items you want for crafting, retainers, seals, whatever. But you're not more entitled to equip your retainer than the others in your party.

Sorry, If you didnt know the system use to Check your inventory. The system no longer checks pass you first retainer. This may be part of a system (the Devs put it in the game) If I go Sch/Smn or anything else and the system says "You can need that" then I have every Right to need that item. If you want certain items take the risks and play the job/class.

Even if I have better gear, I roll need on everything I can so I can turn them into seals or equip my retainers. My time is as valuable as the rest of the party, so I shouldn't lose my right for loot because someone else thinks he deserves it more than I do. Some people ask politely if they can have certain pieces at the start of the run, I'm ok with that, but when someone throws a tantrum because he lost a roll against me, then you better start paying my subscription, then we can talk about which loot you get.

Personally, I think they should just change it to "Want" instead of "Need". Too much drama over this small thing. I personally press Greed in most cases if nobody wants the loot. I'll Need the item if nobody says anything. I'll definitely pass if I notice someone needs the upgrade. Why? There are other dungeons. There are more drops. Seals come and go, there isn't a need to rush. However, to get one specific item, one must be pretty lucky with the RNG - and that's if you don't get tried of farming on the same job over and over again waiting for what you want to drop. Then luck catches you off-guard by dropping the thing you want while you're doing the daily roulettes on another job. I can sympathize with the OP here, honestly.

True, so the system is fair so long as everyone everywhere is a selfish jerk. But many use the buttons for their intended purpose. I, for one, am generally a tank with better gear than what dropped. As such, I click "greed" on tank gear even though I technically can click "need." As such, I put myself on appropriate and equal footing with the rest of the party. I refuse to bully others because I have been bullied.

It's available to me because I'm playing the proper class. Do you want to be able to roll Need on an item? PLAY THE PROPER CLASS.
