You assume a single seed for the RNG.

I don't. I assume multiple seeds and/or variables to the seed(s). Either way, it's more likely than not that the few seconds between meld attempts, desynth attempts, or whatever your RNG situation may be, are changing your "good/bad luck string". SE wouldn't put a system like this in place if it could be manipulated or predicted so easily.

It's not a matter of being easily predicted or manipulated. It's about having a bad seed, or combination of seeds, that will drop your 20% to 10% or less until one of them changes, which could take a few minutes to change if you stay in the same spot.
It's more along the lines of counting cards at blackjack or having an uneven coin.

I have personally found that it is exceptionally easy to acquire the mats for the Artisan's Saw. All it requires is a single Spruce log (gotten from desynthing Bridesmaid's Sandals or from the MB, depending on whether you want to multitask LTW desynthing or not) and two units of horn glue (a full stack of 99 Aldgoat Horns can be bought from the Kobold vendor for 23k, turned into 49 Horn Glues, then further into 24 Spruce Plywoods, and Horn Glue can be quick synthed.)
So that's what I do whenever I have some money to burn. Make plywood, get saws, desynth the saws.

Ugh after I desynth much Artisan's Spectacle, I only got nugget and only 1 FC3. When I desynth Artisan Needle, surprisingly I got 3 MCD after 1 desynth.
