It is pretty tricky doing scholar on ps4, but definitely doable. I am happy with my setup. I highly recommend taking the time beforehand to figure out exactly what you are going to do instead of getting stuck at lvl 50.

I wrote up a guide about faerie macros. I also included a section about how I handle targeting on ps4 and there are some other tips on there too.

I wouldn't recommend macro-ing your DoTs. Macros prevent the ability to "pre-cast" a spell before it is fully off cooldown. Granted that doesn't matter as much to Scholars as it would to Summoners, but it is still not a good habit to get into.

And remove Bane? Really? I mean, I guess if you are a Scholar who doesn't believe in ever DPSing that's okay, but again, more Scholars need to get comfortable in DPSing when not shielding or healing. Arguably the one major advantage we have over White Mages is we are more complex, Scholars should NEVER have any downtime.

I've always macro'd embrace with adlo/physick, and i've never had any problems healing, unsless I go full derp mode xD
Because your Physick and Eos/Selene's Embrace aren't on the same cooldown. Theoretically, the longer a fight goes, you will cause your Fairy to go further and further out of sync with your casting and eventually will drop her healing output across an entire fight. However, I find it to be really insignificant across the duration 90% of fights in this game last, so it's a bit up for debate on how detrimental it is.

would it be safe to say a macro like this would be ok?

    /pac "Embrace" <t>
    /ac "Physick" <mo>

or should I just manually do it i.e. physick on a target and while its casting embrace on another target? I'm lvl37 but so far I can play SCH and position my pet with ease. As for dps I have <t> <tt> macro for each dps ability to ensure I never have to leave off a member but can get some dots in. I just want to be able to split heal if its needed otherwise I've just been letting Eos do her thing on obey which isn't so bad.

Also to the one who said to play WHM because its easier on ps4. I'm not wanting WHM or I would have. SCH looks more fun andcomplex. with WHM I got bored, in full heal mode you dont do alot when you dps its not alot. SCH I can always be doing something which I prefer I'm a DPS main, DRG to be exact. I can't stand not doing something it gets boring.

Lastly just since I have alot of people helpin me. any advice or tips I should keep in mind for playing SCH?

It's old but it shows how to set the layout for the PS3/ps4, it's what I use for my alt but with a few changes

I have one crossbar for healing stuff and one bar for offensive stuff, with a macro tied to CS that also switches the bars over. The third crossbar is tied to the L2+R2 trick, and has my cooldowns and abilities that aren't used as often (rez macro, summon, protect, etc.)

I'm also a SCH on PS4, and get by just as well as I do as WHM.

I have Physick and Embrace both separately as well as them macro'd together for a bigger heal for when needed (to be honest the macro is unnecessary). Just remember your fairy will always go for the first user with <80% on your party list so you don't hit the same target. :P You just use Embrace as you would Physick. It isn't mouse over as it's on a controller - so you just scroll up and down the party list using the arrow keys instead.

If you haven't already, be sure to tick 'Enable customization for when weapon is drawn' in the character configuration settings, so you don't have to cycle through lots of different crossbars. It makes things much easier! I've enabled crossbars 1 and 2; first has fairy abilities, obey, and SCH defensive abilities, and second has offensive abilities, res, stoneskin, heel, steady, and place. The only macro I would advocate is a swiftcast/raise one that announces it to the party, especially with 8-man pug groups lol. Otherwise I don't think they're really necessary. I have space across 2 crossbars for all my abilities needed. Another crossbar trick is enabling L2 > R2 and vise versa if you need some extra space, and it's quicker than cycling through lots of crossbars.

The trick to SCH really is knowing the fights so you can pre shield when necessary. The fairies can be really frustrating to control, but again it's about knowing the fight and pre-spamming the fairy ability so it goes off at the right time, if you know an AOE heal will be needed soon for example. We don't have a quality AOE heal like WHM, but Whispering Dawn + Rouse and/or Fey Illumination is similar to Medica II. At lv. 50 you'll want to keep Eos on 'obey' always, so it's probably good practice to do so now. Having complete control of her abilities is necessary to help you become a better SCH imo, and also because Eos can be rubbish by herself. Though many just leave Selene on Sic as she manages herself better.

You sound like you're getting on fine.

Safe? Worst thing that could happen is if you have an enemy targeted and mouse over someone to heal, then Eos will trigger a self heal. Whether this is a good setup or not is harder to say. If you are envisioning yourself keeping the tank as your target and healing DPS with mouseover, I would suggest reconsidering. Your faerie will auto heal the lowest ally below 80% within around 20-25y of her and there is not anything you can do to override her auto healing. You may find that instead of healing the tank like you asked, Eos is healing the same DPS you targeted. I usually let Eos worry more about the DPS and focus my own heals on the tank.

However... You are on PS4, right? How do you intend on using a mouse over?
