Why not make it be that Hunt mobs are invulnerable and have -a fate area ish effect on the floor-(not on map) that when you step in a timer is displayed - with a countdown and then after certain amount of time passes, the boss will engage and take dmg?

Or Timer only begins count down when x number of people have entered.

I recall others suggesting some measure of initial invulnerability. The idea isn't entirely without merits, IMHO, but I think a safer, in-game way would be to give them smart attacks or useful counters that hinder or restrict head-on attacks: Mahisha has his roars, Maahes petrifying and paralyzing attacks, and let's not forget the way Hellsclaw's Counter Maneuver works. Tune them a bit and the fight would become somewhat more unpredictable... also, they could be a lot more mobile when popping up, perhaps (they mostly circle/bounce around).

However, as others have pointed out someone's going to end up being too late or left out for entirely mundane, acceptable reasons (starting halfway across the map away is one). And while it may suck to be that unlucky lad or lass, it isn't going to happen all the time if you keep looking for marks.

What is wrong, IMHO again, is to pull without preamble to spite others in general, not just a few unlucky latecomers. While time limits/constraints are all right (hey, many of us do have work and families, and limited free time allowances), and first-come-first-served makes at least some sense, doing it out of sheer malice is just plain wrong and doesn't contribute anything to the enjoyment of the game. Besides, it doesn't even guarantee a full reward given the damage output of certain hunt groups (the same could be said about 'suddenly, reset!', of course).

Just my two gils, as always.
