I'm not to sure how many mage/healer have piety mods over mind or int. However bard can also make use of boosts to piety as more MP means ballads will last longer. I just don't know if there are times where bards could use +piety over +dex or +crit.

Plot Twist: Stats will be completely revamped in 3.0
As stats are now, it doesn't matter what stats the new jobs use. It all ends up the same anyway.
DRK will use Vit/Str just because they like making 1 set to fit all tanks and healers. Same reason why AST will use Mind/Pie

Or Vit/Int and change tank gear into Str/Vit/Int gear.
Like they showed with Monk gear pre 2.4, it is no problem to add another stat to already existing gears.

I'd take piety over skill speed any day as a bard.
At least piety plays into an actual class function rather than potentially hindering 2 others.
Possible, but none of the DPS classes share armor sets past 110.
Machinist will use DEX. Just like when NIN was coming and I said "SE will find a way to make it so NIN uses DEX"...I was right about that.
DEX for gun uses has been a staple for almost as long as it has been for dagger wielders. Being super smart doesn't make you shoot straighter. A steady hand does.
Even if they revamp stats (which I doubt unless they add something to VIT, MND, PIE, and INT to match the fact that DEX and STR both do more than one thing), the Machinist skills will still do the equivalent of drawing on DEX for damage.

No bard would ever willingly go piety.

Hahaha! Back in the day, I went all PIE for my BRD before I understood the system (I come from FFXI since 2005). When the community busted my balls for not doing DEX, I felt shameful. I had dropped WHM to main BRD, and even got Novus weapon after still meddling with PIE lol...
Now, I went back to my roots as WHM, forcing myself to part ways with my BRD's progress since I suck at dps'ing anyway.
