The difficulty level may be trivially easy, but the lesson it's supposed to be teaching is an important one: that you need to pay attention to a quest's objectives and that they won't always consist just of "kill everything". Sometimes killing a mob or letting it die is the failure condition. That's the whole point of this hest, and trolls in it aren't common enough to justify removing its purpose.
